So, did you just connect the AC line of the right side power supply to the switched outlet on the A419? Seems like a very simple, elegant solution for temp control.
Thanks! Yes - just run the power from the A419 over to the power supply. Make sure that you read the destructions for the A419 very well - there is a switch to set it up for heating or cooling and then 120/240 depending on where you connect the wires to.

Good luck with it.

Absolutely gorgeous. I'm completely jealous. Beautiful craftsmanship. You'll be glad you took so much time when it's completely finished.

How much cooling are you expecting from the Peltier junctions? Are you ducting the heat from the Peliters away from the Humidor somehow? Damn my engineering background.

Anyway, that looks like one of the more advanced humidors I have seen. Excellent work, I think I have an idea for a winter project!

Now you show up - just when I'm almost done -

The total scope of my "cooling" engineering rests soley on the mistakes of others. There are way to many varibles for me to figure out the BTU's - in addtion to having to find my old college school books from 30 years ago -

The popular Peltier device that everyone is using in general is rated at 50 Deg F (11C) with the unit operating on 12-13.6 Vdc @ 4.4 Amps. The units that I am using are rated at 43 Deg F (6c) at 12-13.6 Vdc @ 5.7-6.8 Amps. So in the world of Peltiers that's a good amount more. My total cubic feet is 13.5 minus the shelves, Oasis and drawers. As the cooling of the Peltiers are directly related to how fast you can remove heat from the hot side - I have two fans (don't have the CFM rating handy) directly fastened to the heatsinks. Keep in mind that I have simply reversed the polarity of the units rather that take them apart - so my hot side is in contact with a large alum block and then the heat sink. As I am concered with cooling and not heating - I wanted the cooling heatsink to cool quicker and a larger surface area - hence the reverse.
Ducting - it's an open air design. Heat side is located on the bottom of the cabinet with the fans directly attacked blowing into the fins as you can see on the pics. As heat rises the colder cooling air is of course closer to the floor. Between the heatsinks - we have 1/16" metal and 1 1/4" of plywoods. I'm looking at zero heat transfer I believe through the wall. In addition my room temps would not normally get over 77/78 degrees. Average I would say would be 74/75 maybe. These are higher however than I would like to keep my smokes at. Inside temps of the humidors/coolers tend to run 1 or 2 degrees above room temps.

Anyway - that's it for now I guess - if you can come up with a format for figuring up capacity of these units - I'd love to hear it.

Later,

Ron

This man knows what he's doing

This was my go to site when I was making decisions and the little mods I made to a cabinet. Without his website I would have never made up my mind.
