Otterbox 5540????

I just recieved my Otterbox and it came with the bottle of 50/50. I charged the humidifier a couple of hours ago. Being that this is a plastic box there would be no seasoning involved. Does anyone have this model or another model that could give me some insite into how long it should take to stabalize in there? Thanks.

I have the 30 stick one, whichever model that is. I don't think it really needs to "stabilize". I only keep my sticks in there for a few days at a time and they all do fine. I used this box in Vegas, which has very low RH and all my sticks smoked great out of the box. These things have excellent seals on them so you probably don't need any humidifying device in there if your cigars are properly humidified and it's only being used for a few days.

I have a 32ct cigar caddy. I bought it from Mark at Cigarmony.

I also bought a 65% Puck. Its perfect dead on 65/65 and dont ahve to worry about it until you need the caddy. All you gotta do is add a bit of distilled water and you are good to go.

......it makes you wonder. If the cigars are proper when you put them in and it's airtight you don't need to mess with the humidification device. After you take the cigars out and close the box you'd think it would be a perfect enviroment to grow mold. When mine comes ,which is soon, I may use one of those tubes in the middle of the center foam but I'm not going to do anything with the humidifier.

Ive got a 4 count Craftmans bench and I just put some distilled in the small humidifier. Is it even possible for a travel case to "stablilze"? Theres no wood to absorb any humidity

Re: Otterbox 5540????

I have the 5400 and use a large tube of beads in it. I use it every weekend from April until October. It seems I've gotten a bit lazy this year and use it like another humi. I filled it with smokes at the begining of the summer and each weekend I just refill the empty slots. I just tend to the beads when I tend to the ones in my humis. As others have said, if your smokes have been properly stored your really just stabilizing the air inside as it doesn't need to be "seasoned".
