Go really cheap. It seems that most jet lighters clog up after a short time. Go to your convenience store and get a 5 dollar one. Or get a Ronson at wal mart. That way when it craps out you wont have spent too much money on it.

Is that based on your extensive use of this particular lighter?

Motoracer: I've never used this lighter, so I won't comment on it other than to say that I've owned Prometheus lighters in the past and they functioned very well.

If you are looking for lighters that are suitable for both pipes and cigars (like the one referenced in your above post), I can wholeheartedly recommend the IM Corona Old Boy. I've had one for ten years and it was only in the last month that I've had to send it in for any service.

Hopefully someone else can give you an opinion of this particular Prometheus based on firsthand experience with the lighter.

90% of lighter problems can be attributed to "dirty fuel". Using AT LEAST a triple refinded butane will greatly reduce problems. The Vector fuel is refined 5x and is the lowest cost per volume fuel.

Kyle - Have been using the Churchill "X" Series soft flame for about 9 months with no problems at all. FYI - The Series II is a soft flame and not a torch flame.

Hope this helps

Not sure about this lighter but I am sure about Mark at Cigarmony. He is top notch so send him an e-mail and he will give you his honest opinion whether or not it costs him the sale.

Not that one in particular but I have used other Prometheus lighters, and I did used 5X refined butane. So it does stop working at about the same time the cheap ones I get do.

Not really. I just grow weary of self-styled experts replying to threads that clearly ask one question, not answering that question, and then making global pronouncements on subjects without stating facts to back up their assertions. On second thought, maybe I am just grumpy

I agree the Ronson you can buy at the tobacco counter at Walmart is $2.97 and works just fine and if it breaks... ohh wait I dont care!

Re: Anyone try this lighter?

I've got one from the Churchill series, but it has a different style. I love this lighter. Its got a heavy and quality feel to it, along with an exceptionally smooth roller. I've had this lighter for a long long time, and would definitely recommend if you want a classy lighter.
