Humi tube placement

Have recently recommisioned my 300ct. Windsor and 75ct. Prestige so as not to keep opening the cabinet for daily smokes. Just want to know if anyone have any ideas in attaching the tubes to the inside lid. TIA

Velcro??? Isn't the humi tubes the same size as cigar? I'd just mix them in like I do with my Drymistat tubes (they viper beads in them).

I lay my drymistats right next to the cigars. Just make sure after filling them that the water is completely absorbed

I agree with the velcro. ... I like the idea of being able to squeeze 1 more cigar in .

No seriously though I've read in these very forums that people do occassionaly have a problem with mold growing on the cigar nearest the humidification when butted right up against it. If you have any trays I lay mine perpendicular to the cigars to avoid this. If no trays velcro on the inside is a real good and cheap solution.

As a few have already said just wipe off all excess water from the tube and you can put it anywhere. With that said velco or magnets work well.

Re: Humi tube placement

Seem to remember seeing a pic of a humi with a couple of tubes attached under the lid. Perhaps I'll look for a plastic clip or holder of some sort. Appreciate all the feedback.

Any difference in putting tubes on bottom vs. top rack? I've got 2 on bottom and 1 on the top rack.

Humid air is heavier than not - so although I don't have any hard facts to support it - I believe placing more on the top will work out better. Of course it would also depend on the size and construction of your humidor.

Re: Humi tube placement

I use velcro to hold DryMistat tubes to the lid of a couple of small humidors I have.
It seems to work better than when I just laid them in with the cigars.

I'd say move it to 2 on top and 1 on bottom.

Re: Humi tube placement

the velcro seems to me to be sorta not a good plan since it would be covering up some of the holes which in itself wouldnt be a problem but the moisture comeing out of can reach the stickyness of the velcro and make it less sticky over time. not to mention your attachinv a circle to a flat surface.

If you have to use velcro then I would attache it in the corners of the lid so get the most surface area. or like Mark suggested the magnets.. you could use Neodium magnets and throw them into the tube (use very small ones) they are EXTREMELY STRONGand attach a peice of metal to the lid and it should hold even if its not touch the lid itself.

Or I would use wire and sort of bracket it to the lid but that would require a tack or screw which might not be wanted.

Velcro isn't "sticky". It's little loops and hooks, and I don't believe water will affect them, at least not small quantities. Are you talking about the adhesive used to hold the velcro onto the tube/container? If that's what you meant, then yes, I've found that issue with some humidifiers that had adhesive-backed velcro. I just superglued the velcro onto the container, and now there's no way it will come off. With the original adhesive, it would hold for about 30 minutes before coming off, and now it's been holding for weeks.
