Ideas on Making a Travel Humi?
So I have this case here thats is a zero (haliburton?) centurion elite its a bit dinged up but I could care less. The dimensions are 12x9x5 which is exactly the same dimensions as the Zero Haliburton Ambassador model, however, replacement trays for that humi is 67 and change. Any ideas on how to do it for cheaper? I really would like to get holders, a humidifier and a gauge for less than sixty if at all possible. Any ideas or suggestions?

Re: Ideas on Making a Travel Humi?
Craft stores may carry grey foam similar to the liners. You'll just have to experiment to make the ridges that hold the cigars in place.
The puck is the best choice for a humidifier. www.getthepuck.com I swear by the HumiGauge perfecto shaped hygrometer. http://littlehavanacigars.com/humigauge_perfecto.asp (19.00 free ship) The Puck and the HumiGauge are the best I've seen and these are the cheapest places to get them. Good luck and happy smoking!

You could try Ron for the tray/ foam @ http://www.cigaraccessories.cigarsol...com/page2.html he has lots of different trays options. He may have one that fits that case.. I'd go with a craftmens(sp) bench humidifier It takes up less head room, you could fill it with beads and your good to go.. Or you could get the Heartfelt humidity sheets which are great for short term storage. However you choose to do it, promise you'll post a few pics? Good luck Frank |

Ron's trays are sweet and have them in all my Otterboxes.
Being an authorized Zero Halliburton dealer, I can get you original Ambassador trays for $65 + shipping Hope this helps. ~Mark |

Re: Ideas on Making a Travel Humi?
my foam trays are easy to cut. you wont be the first person who has used my trays to convert a Halliburton, works well, and easy to do. Besides selling the Halliburtons, I have used one for years. I would use a couple of Bovedas for humidification. No need for a hygrometer.

Re: Ideas on Making a Travel Humi?
I found it at a scrap metal recycling place of all places. I believe they were originally a mil-spec case judging by eBay links for "Centurion Elite" looks as if they can be had for ~50 if you wait and watch.
Ron/Anyone else - What do you use to cut the trays? A hot knife or Exacto or ? I'm definently going to keep my eyes open for more of these, especially if I can get them for only the price of scrap alum.

Re: Ideas on Making a Travel Humi?
BTW, Cigar Classics will not sell the trays seperately. They will service an existing customer who lost a tray, but they will not sell trays seperately. I know this because if the trays were sold seperately, I would be selling them.

Re: Ideas on Making a Travel Humi?
Really cheap?? Here goes: KMart has these clear plastic food storage containers that have a rubber o-ring seal in them and see thru. Suckers seal up good! When I travel, I use the one that is tall with the lid on top. Dimensions are about 6x4xChurchill tall. Airtight seal. I just load it with smokes so they don't move around and a humi pack of somekind (whatever is laying around). Then use the 5 stick Herf-a-dor I got on Cbid for $14 to carry out after I arrive. Works great. You can either pack it the checked baggage or carry it on. I usually carry it on so it doesn't get snatched by some slug searching thru my bag.
