I got mine from the group buy as well. I'm having the same problem with the "Vector Blowback". I just assumed it was me.

I bet the ones bought in the group buy are different. Maybe thats how they sell a $40.00 lighter for $22.00. I am happy with the one I bought but maybe they are a bit different.

You are trying to make a seal with the nozel, if you tilt it off plane it will spray you.

I too got mine from the group buy, and I am having the same problem. Really wouldn't bother me too much, except the butane is so dang cold on my hand.

you konw i just posted this question on another forum. i have this SAME EXACT PROBLEM. i tried to follow marks from cigarmonys tips and it never worked. i been trying to solve this problem forever. the red adapter crack too after you keep trying it and it ends up spraying all over the place anyway. ive tried multiple bottles. if anyone knows a particular brand that fits PERFECTLY and doesnt spray at all , please let me konw, i love this lighter but it sucks to refill.
