Newbie Questions

First of all I just wanted to thank everyone for all their help. Even though this is my first post I have used the search option frequently and have found alot of your information to be very useful.

I am a recent college grad and just starting working my first office job. I have been working some pretty long hours and have a long commute back from NYC. I occasionally have been having a cigar to help me relax. I find that they help me take my mind off of work. As you can imagine, I have found a new hobby and love the experience. This is why I have my first post.

I am looking for a humidor and was wondering if the humidors from barginhumidors, tampahumidor, or cheaphumidors were worth more then just a box. I don't get alot of chances to run to the smoke shop so when I do I purchase a few different sticks at a time. I would like to have something nice to store them in and even though I understand a Coolador would do the trick I think a nice box on my desk would be very appealing to me. Tell me what you think. I was looking at a humi that would hold 100 - 150 sticks.

Next the problem I have is many of my friends have been wanting to smoke my cigars and I have been smoking more as well. Unfortunately as of now I do not have that kind of budjet. I have been smoking Padron Madaros, CAO Gold and Brazilla, Nat Shermans, and La Gloria Cubanas to name a few. Does anyone have any suggestions about a second bundle or something that I should look into.

Thank you for all your help!

Re: Newbie Questions

Bargain Humidors is very good, I have this one http://www.bargainhumidors.com/bh/it...sp?SKU=HUM-BH4, I've had it for a few years, works great.......of course i've added a few more humis, but that's a different story.

Flor de Olivas a great bundle cigar I buy 'em @ Rockys' but they are readily available elsewhere too, Good Luck! http://fujipub.com/rockyscigars/flordeoliva.html#cigar

And Welcome to the Jungle!

Re: Newbie Questions

Welcome. You might want to try Consuegra bundles. If you like Punch, Hoyo de Monterrey & other Villazon products, this is a great choice.

Welcome to CS.

I concur, Bargain Humidors. I keep a small desktop humi, but really most of my stuff is in a cooler and a couple of big tupperware containers. Not pretty, but just as effective.

Re: Newbie Questions

Welcome aboard!

The FDO Bundles are quite good. I really like the Perfecto Petit size in them but I can currently only find them at my local cigar shop.

Try Drew Estates's La Veja Habana - its their best selling cigar, comes boxed, and has a great looking corojo wrapper. The cigar is sandwich construction, but for around $25 for a box of 20 they are hard to beat.

Other seconds worth mentioning, Consuerga (aka connie), Roly, Old Fashioned, El Credito.

Also keep in mind internet ordering boxes of cigars is significantly less than buying singles in local stores. A Punch Gran Puro at my local shop is $5.50, but I can get a box of 25 @ $3.00/stick. The CAO Brazilia's you mentioned are usually also $5.50 to $6.00 a stick, but run around $4.00 to $4.25 each when ordered online.

One final recommendation is to try an Onyx Reserve. Based upon some of the cigars you listed you may like it. Although the Onyx Reserve line isn't much less than LGC and CAO Brazilia in local cigar shops, online they run around $60/box as compared to the $80-$90/box the LGC and CAO Brazilia run. For $3/stick I know of nothing that comes close to Onyx.

Check out http://www.bestcigarprices.com to find the best deal going for a cigar once you've found one you really like.

Again, welcome!
Matt

Re: Newbie Questions

Not much to add. You have already a lot of good advice.

I got my Humidor from Thompsons and I like it a lot. But Bargain Humidors is the place to go.

Look into the Flor de Oliva Bundles. Smokeall.com has the best price for them last I checked.

Re: Newbie Questions

Bargain Humidors is good. If you're looking for a small desktop, check out cigarbid.com. You could get lucky and get great deal on a decent desktop.

Check out Uncle Mikey's site at mrbundles.com for great quality bundles at very reasonable prices. If you're looking in your local shop, see if the carry a bundle known as "The Brick". It's a Toraņo bundle that is a great value for a really good cigar.

I would suggest you set up a coolerdor to store most of your cigars in. Use the desktop for a few good one's and a bunch of mooch sticks for your buds.

Nice site! Really great pricing on many cigars. Have bumped their shortcut icon up the list.
Thanx!
