I think I need to upgrade... This stinky pile of nubs was from feb... I wanted to keep a track of how many I was smoking, but this will be a one time experiment. My ash goes in an asian noodle bowl before disposal...

Re: Post your Ashtrays!

When they first came out I really thought that the Cubist ashtray was amazing but now I really don't see what the attraction is. Not only is it crazy expensive but the place to hold the ash looks very small, if more than one person were using it, it looks like it would have to be emptied at least once. I If they cost around $30 I could see it being justified but ~$100 is nuts. It seams to definitely be "form over function"

I must be a traditionalist because that funky CAO ashtray has zero appeal to me.

Coz,

You might keep an eye on this lot: http://www.cigarbid.com/auction/lot.cfm?lotID=431432

Bet it goes for less than a buck thirty.

Actually If you guys havent seen CI www.cigarsinternational.com Has the CAO Cubist on sale for 59.95 which is a pretty sweet deal. http://www.cigarsinternational.com/p...-MPASH1&cat=82

Also dont see it on the site any more but I know that recently JR was offering the CAO ashtray free with a box purchase. I remember it being "while supplies last" but it definitly wouldnt hurt to give em a call and see if the offer still stands. As for myself I do not yet have an ashtray to show off.

Re: Post your Ashtrays!

I just ordered two boxes of Partagas so will be getting two of their ashtrays. I'll give one to my SIL. He smokes cigars, brews his own beer and shoots a .45. I'm so proud (sniff).

Silhanek, cool AT your FIL made. My FIL is an excellant welder but I don't know if he could make something that small. He's done stuff like mobile, 30 foot long cattle chutes and giant hay stack movers.

I've been using an old, crystal AT from the 50's that belonged to my folks. I'm looking forward to receiving the Part. AT. It'll add some class to my "man-cave".

This is a great thread. Lots of neat pictures of some really cool ashtrays.
Only one thing bothered me. Physiognomy. There's about 3 hours worth of smoking left in those cigars in your ashtray. Yes, it's true. I haven't trimmed my mustache in years

Re: Post your Ashtrays!

Just posted THIS THREAD with a picture of the bigger Herf Edition of my ash tray.

WyoBob, my FIL is definatly a skilled craftsman/artist, but I don't think the welding on these ash trays is really anything more than a few tack welds to hold it together. I think most of the work was getting the pieces cut and sized before assembly.
