My smoking goodies (props to Bigwaved and Discdog for the cutter action):

The red glass is depression-era, while the Occidental was picked up at the establishment of the same name my first time in SF for business. That place was seriously cool--allowed to operate because the servers "own" the establishment so it's considered a club, not a restaurant/bar, so they serve the good stuff inside and you can smoke 'til your heart's content.

Both of those are cool - I especially like the vintage red glass.

I swear my grandpa had a red one just like that. I used to go to see him when I was a kid, He smoked cigs, cigars, and pipes. I loved the smell in his house.

Same here. My favorite memories of my grandfather are of him smoking cigars and the smell of his home.

kinda wish I had kept his old ashtrays..he had a neat one in his living room that was on a stand - would have been nice to have now. Well at least I have his old humi!

When I saw that red glass ashtray in an antique store in Stillwater, OK, I bought it and its three smaller friends for exactly that reason...memories of my grandfather, being a little kid and always knowing that among other things, I'd get to see all of the depression glass that he and my grandmother collected. I cried the day one of the smaller ones was broken by a drunken friend.

I just got this one as a gift. I'm sorry for the stock photo - as soon as I locate my camera I'll get some real pics up.

Re: Post your Ashtrays!

No ashtray to post really....

But it was the memories of my Grandpa that stuck with me and no doubt influenced my trip down the slope...

Re: Post your Ashtrays!

Here are a couple of my ash trays. A few post back muziq had a pic of his red glass, here's my red one I found on ebay. Also a clear glass I picked up at a yard sale.
The tile top table, for the front porch, my wife made for me last fall

Re: Post your Ashtrays!

A few from around the house:

My coffee table. Counter-clockwise from bottom left: Waterford that holds three cigars, one with the Senate logo with rests for four cigars, and a Lalique lighter/ashtray set with a shell pattern.

One end table. A vintage Lalique ashtray named "Cuba"

Another end table (actually it's a wine cooler turned humidor). A marble ashtray.

Bedside table. Gotta love smoking in bed

In case you couldn't tell, I like being close to an ashtray (or three) at all times.

Re: Post your Ashtrays!

Here's a pic of my stinky. I'm currently in the process of filling it up, I'm going to try to get it to the top before I dump it

It's a pretty crappy pic taken with the camera phone, but you get the idea. Oh and there's a z-plus in that zippo

I'm sorry , but I figure a cigar is done when it is done... I usually try to enjoy as much of a stick as I can, but I don't go burning my fingers unless it's really worth it. There were some nice nubs in that lot too! A La Aurora Pref., Padron Anny, etc, etc... I think I heard a quote from Zino Davidoff about this... Didn't he say that a gentleman only smokes the first half of a cigar, & only a brute smokes more???
