Seasoning my first humidor, want to make sure theres nothing wrong w/ the seal

Hey,
First want to say this is a great site have learned alot for the short amount time being here...

After a some research here, I bought this http://www.bargainhumidors.com/bh/Pr...ductid=HUM-BH4 seem to be a recommended site here.

The humidor makes a woosh sound so thats a good sign from what I heard, overall it seems really nice for the money, all though I've never had anything else to compare it to. I searched here that its recommended seasoning it w/ distilled water for a week or two. So its had about 4 full days now into it w/o opening it up. I noticed the humidity pretty much stopped at 64 for the last couple of days, but likes too stay around 62 and 63. Like it will fluctuate. It wont go past 64 or even hold it there. The temp is 68. Just wanted to know if this normal for the beginning of the seasoning process, because the instructions that came w/ it want it to hit approx 80 humidity. I planned on giving it a couple weeks to let it season before I use it. But I also want to make sure theres nothing wrong w/ it because they only except returns for 15days after purchase. Cheaphumidors.com were selling some humis w/ "sure seal technology" what exactly its the sure seal, gimmick? or is it worth getting the humis w/ the stamped sure seal? Also I noticed on the inside of my humi there is quiet a few blots of finish inside it, I can get pics if needed.

Any help is appreciated.

Welcome to CS.
I don't think I would want my humi at 80%. I would give it a few more days to absorb moisture.
I think you will find that most here like their humidity at around 65%.
Also remember that when you start placing cigars in that the humidity will rise/fall according to the moisture content of the sticks.
Do not worry about this as it should settle down after a couple of days.

Good luck and enjoy.

Yeah about a week is the norm from what ive read around here on seasoning the humi. But out of curiosity did you happen to callibrate your hygrometer? You can do so using the salt test. And I would also reccomend getting some beads to stabilize the humidity once seasoning is complete. Here is the info on the beads and how to use them with your humidor http://www.clubstogie.com/vb/showthread.php?t=25122

I was going to try and callibrate it, but the instructions for the Western Caliber III said that the salt test wasn't needed and would void the warrenty. Thanks for the link I'll look into getting some beeds.

You are at a good humidity and temp now.

If you want to spike the humidity up a bit, just stick a glass of distlled water inside the humi for a bit and that will bring the humidity up.

But at 65/65 or about there, you are good to go.

Welcome to Club Stogie, lots of info in these pages about problems and fixes on setteng up humidors.

No worries, I have salt tested all of mine with no problems and so have many other gorillas. If you want to speed the process, heat a shot glass of water in the microwave and place it in the humidor. Let the rh come down naturally to around 70 and filler up.

Welcome!
