Humi help.....

I finished seasoning my humi. I only put a few singles in there. I put the heartfelt aluminum humidifier in there dry for a couple of days. Then I put 5cc TOTAL in it and put it back in. I then calibrated my Hygrometer for 42 hours befroe it leveled off, 6% off.

My trouble is the humidity is stuck up at 74%. Should I just leave the lid open for a day?

Need a little more info first. What size is your humidor. Are you using the small or large alum humidifier? What rh% beads are in the humidifier? Do you know the rh before you added water to the humidifier?

You could leave the lid open for a while. But, I'd be more inclined to just be patient and let the beads stabilize your humi.

Also is your hygrometer digital or analog?
6% off in what diresction?
If it is 6% high then you would be at 68% which is a pretty darn good #.

one other thing, it's easier to stabilize w/ the humi closer to capacity (don't ask why, i don't know!)-also, if all your beads are clear, there's no room for them to absorb humidity (the 2nd 1/2 of their purpose)

i should have put that in the first post, sorry.

I have a 50 or 75 ct Humi, I forget which. It only has around 10 sticks in it right now. I am using 65% beads in the small aluminum humidifier. I didn't take a reading before hand. I am using a digital Hygrometer I purchased from heartfelt, it was 6% low when I got it I calibrated/adjusted it back and forth, kept going 1% off in either direction, thats why it took 42 hours instead of 24. It has come down ever so slightly in the past two day maybe a point or two.

Also, get a few more cigars in there. Every time you open that thing, fresh air of a different temp/humidity flows in, and that will throw it off significantly on a humi that, erm, size-challenged. What I'm getting at is that with more cigars in there (also humidified), you'll have more mass that's holding/giving off water vapor, and together with the cedar of the humi will help bring your humidity to the level you desire.
