How many have bought your humidors from ebay?

I find it odd that humidors are so cheap on ebay, and yet none of them ever have a bid on them.

Is there a reason? A lot of them look the exact same as the ones in the online shops, but for 100+ less. (although shipping is about 30)

I'm looking for another humi, and If i don't have to spend the $180 for a 150-200 ct humidor if i can get one for 70 on ebay shipped.

Re: How many have bought your humidors from ebay?

I bought my first 3 humidors on eBay, a 100 count, then a 300, and finally a Varages 500 count. I had very good luck with all of them, but used sellers that were strictly humidor dealers and not the "we sell everything" types.

i've purchased one on ebay. it was from an individual seller, not a dedicated store.

advertised that he purchased it as a jewelry chest but never used it. never been seasoned, never had a cigar stored in it. when it arrived, it came as described. mint condition.

Theres a seller that posts this web page on Fake Humidors on ebay:
http://www.fakehumidors.com/

Don't know if its just a scare tactic to buy his products.

He isn't lying, but his humidors ain't much better, because I bought one from him. Returned it the same day it was delivered. But that site is truthful, there was a guy here a few weeks ago who bought one of those fake humidors. They are not lined with Spanish cedar and the hygrometers are fake, just a plain piece of plastic supposedly. I read the actual feedback comments left by customers and those were some of the things they said.

And buying humidors from ebay, I had 2 terrible experiences in a row and gave up. The first one was described as a 100 count and it was a bit bigger than my 40 count. Also the plastic hygrometer fell right out of the front as soon as I took it out of the box. The second one came damaged and also didn't seal, I could literally see into the humidor through the gap in the lid. And both of them were purchased from "we only sell humidors" sellers.

A few people around here have commented that ones sold by robustohumidors aren't bad, so I bought mine from him on ebay. I did have to reseal it, but it's been pretty good to me.

I have one of the Robustohumidors myself. Seems to be a great humi for the price. The seal isn't perfect, but it's decent. It keeps the RH fairly constant, but my beads dry out much quicker than in my cooler.

Scimmia, what did you do to improve the seal on yours?

Re: How many have bought your humidors from ebay?

I was really close to buying a couple of EBay, but decided to just get a cabinet Aristocrat instead. If I were to pull the trigger on an EBay listing; it would only be for a name brand product. It's easy to make a humidor look like something, yet be a piece of crap too.

Dunhill, Davidoff, Elie Bleu... there's deals out there.

The only big problem with mine was that the lip on the door that goes into the humi wasn't attached very well; there were small gaps. I just used some wood glue to fill them. It holds humidity pretty well, but I think I'm going to get some cork to put around the door, too, and see if that helps more.

I also bought a humi from Robusto and has the same seal issue. I ended up just using the tray in my cabinet and ditched the humi. That will be the last time I bought a humi from ebay.

i have one that i got from robusto humidors as well, and it has served me quite well. it is nice looking, and holds a good seal, and has kept my cigars in great shape I'd definitely recommend buying from them.

Re: How many have bought your humidors from ebay?

I know everyone looks for deals specially during this time and age when money is tight for allot of us. But a humi is an investment in my eyes so why buy one you cant see in person or from a very well know dealer

Got my cabinet from TampaHumidor. I got the Trivoli. A great product and TH's customer service is excellent.

My $20 glass-top humi from Holts also seals very well.
