Are Henrys Cigar Tools priceless?

I grabbed my last Fonseca Cubano Limitado out of my traveldor, and after a quick beheading by the headsman Palio I took a quick pre-draw. That is when the disappointment began, for this was one of my favorite cigars, and it had a horrible draw. After a quick discussion with the headsman Palio we both agreed to make another cut just in case.

Unfortunately, the draw did not improve. This is that shining moment when I thought I should have jumped on the chance to buy a set of Henrys Cigar Tools on eBay...

Those of you who have quested most diligently for that great go-to smoke know there's nothing worse than finding one of your favorites under such restriction. I tried to enjoy it. I really did. I finally had to give up with 1/4 of it left.

On the lookout now for a set to add to my ever-growing Cigar-ware.

Get a set. Well worth the money.

They work great and are all hand-made.

I have a set and they are definitely "well worth the money". Nothing worse than having to toss a good cigar that could have been saved with these tools.

This is what I use. Henry's look a lot nicer, but mine only cost about $5 for six and they can also be used as kebab skewers.

Re: Are Henrys Cigar Tools priceless?

I use a piece of wire coat hanger for larger gauge cigars and a turkey lacer for smaller gauge.
Call me cheap I guess but it has worked fine so far.
That is not to say I will not eventually get a set of Henry's tools but these work fine until I do.

yeah, i was wondering about that. i've experienced a plugged cigar or two and just powered my way through them. i had heard about Henry's Cigar Tools, but couldn't figure out whether there was something special to them besides their finish....maybe a special technique? seemed like all you needed to do was poke a hole through the length of the cigar...

in any case, next plugged cigar, i'm gonna have to try a hanger or wire or ninja star or skewer or something.

For years now I've used a piece of 316 SS welding rod that's about 1/16" in diameter and about 8 inches long, sharpened to a point. Know any welders?

Re: Are Henrys Cigar Tools priceless?

I tried another Gorilla's Henry's Tools, and it worked great. I picked myself up a set when the new ones were released. Glad to have them, hope not to have to use them too often.

Point well taken! (no pun intended).

That was Henry's point (no pun intended) when he made up his original tool sets a few years back!

If you choose to use the welding rod, however, stay away from the brass and stainless steel... They just don't hold up like a good tempered steel.

That said, I'll go back to my cave!

I just ordered a set after reading this thread. I'm addicted to picking up accessories for this silly hobby. I hope I never have to use them.

Re: Are Henrys Cigar Tools priceless?

Keep in mind... Henry is an ornary bastard!

He allowed me to distribute the "Classic" sets via David and Heartfelt... But he's totaly ANAL about the "Signature" and "Sportman's" series we offer privately.

Ahh well... That's just Henry!

Re: Are Henrys Cigar Tools priceless?

Henry puts alot of work into his cigar tools, they not only work well but they look real nice laying on the table. They pay for themselves as well, you just have to use it on a few cigars and you have recovered the cost.
