New Humi question!?

For the sake of saving space, i was hoping to ask a few questions in one thread regarding a new humidor.

Yesterday, my new 120 count glass top arrived from Cheaphumidors and looks great.

I was planning on doing the Boveda seasoning and leaving the top closed for 10 days as advised, but realized the one packet I ordered was 2 less than needed. Rather than wait, I tossed the one packet on the top tray and put an expresso cup with 50/50 soulution in the microwave for a few seconds and put it in the bottom as well as charged the humidifier with the solution.

This morning, i refilled the cup and looked at the digital hygro and it is holding steady at 69 degrees and 72% rh. The cup is still in the bottom and the packet on the top tray. My questions are:

1. While I probably got little benefit from the packet, did it hurt anything and can i leave it in there with the smokes for a week?

2. Am I nuts to think I am nearly ready to start putting smokes in the humi, like maybe tommorow if it holds steady where it is? It has been 2 days.

3. I plan on putting in my 2oz heartfelt tube on the bottom and a smaller one on the top. Is it ok to leave the 50/50 charged humidifier in its holder?

As usual, thanks to the generous gorillas who will share their knowlege so kindly.

Not really sure , but it probably won't hurt anything. I've never used them. See comments below.

2. Am I nuts to think I am nearly ready to start putting smokes in the humi, like maybe tommorow if it holds steady where it is? It has been 2 days.

No, go ahead. Just remember that the cigars will, most likely, release or absorb moisture. It will take time again to reach a steady state, ie, steady RH.

3. I plan on putting in my 2oz heartfelt tube on the bottom and a smaller one on the top. Is it ok to leave the 50/50 charged humidifier in its holder?

If you have 70% beads, then the 50/50 solution will work with them to maintain 70%. If you have 65% beads, they will work against each other. It is "OK" to leave them which ever is the case, but not efficient in the latter.

As usual, thanks to the generous gorillas who will share their knowlege so kindly.
OK, now for the hard part. Unless your are getting very wild swings in RH, say below 60 or above 75, don't panic. If thing seem to be with-in that range and going toward the RH you want, say 1 or 2% a day then you are fine. If the RH is not in that range, then come back and we will help out more.
Now, smoke a cigar and note how it tastes. If the cigar tastes like crap and it usually tastes good, then set your hair on fire, run around until the wind puts it out and check back in with us. If it tastes good, then ENJOY.

(Just my wanker way o saying, have fun with your new hobby )

Just wondering what you're going to be putting in the "tubes"?

Use the search function -- no j/k

Dad was in the Navy and retired in Florida before I got out of HS, so I went to FSU. Went to graduate school at SDSU and stayed in Sandy Eggo ever since.
