About empty cigar boxes for use in coolerdor

I have collected some empty cigar boxes that I am going to put in a Coleman cooler I will use as a coolerdor.

Some boxes seem to be made of cedar but they have some paper lining that is stuck to the wood that covers the inside of the box. Should I take this paper off or does it not make any difference? Is the box useful for the coolerdor as it is? For example, I am talking about a Punch Rothschilds box that holds 50 cigars. Is this an ok box to put cigars in when using a coolerdor?

Excuse me for being ignorant but I am new to cigar storage, I just got a couple desktop humidors a few weeks ago and I am already wanting more storage space, thanks to Cbid, CI and Famous!

Re: About empty cigar boxes for use in coolerdor

Many cigar boxes are paper lined. It's ok to use them as is. If you decide to remove the paper liner, just make sure you aren't exposing any glue residue that will come in to contact with your cigars. But shouldn't be a problem. I sometimes remove the paper liners myself.

The box you described sounds fine -- as really most any box from a B&M will do. Of course, don't use boxes that have previously stored flavored cigars. And if a box still smells fairly pungent with the odor of the original cigars stored in them, I would open it and let it sit for several days before loading in your new cigars. That way, you can make certain the aroma of the original cigars doesn't affect the taste of the new cigars you store in the empty box.
