puck placement in travel humi

im using a small travel humi to house my petit coronas because they fit perfectly in there, and i would like to use the Puck 50 but it is too big to fit in the lid where the original junk humi snapped into place. so right now i have the Puck on the top of three rows, with a cut up cedar wrap being used as a separator underneath. i do not yet have a hygrometer for it, one is on the way, but attached is a pic of what i have setup at the moment.

i wonder if the separator is even necessary considering the bottom of the puck is sealed. i also realize that due to space limitations the options are probably few to begin with, but for those of you using beads or the Puck in a similarly sized humi, this noob would appreciate any ideas you might care to offer

The puck is plastic on the bottom and has the foam in the cap so the beads don't come out.

The puck does a good job, just keep and eye on that humidor in case it gets to moist in there.

If you are trying to save space, get a humi sheet form Cigar Solutions. It will take up no space and do the same thing the puck does.

Do you put the sheet under the foam? I am under the impression that if you leave the sheet in your humidor for a couple days, it will absorb enough humidity to work well in the caddy????

the best way for the humidity sheet to get recharged is to store it inside your everyday humidor. I place the humidity sheet under the foam trays in my travel humidors, but it can come in contact with your cigars with no harm done.http://www.cigaraccessories.cigarsol...di-Sheets.html

Re: puck placement in travel humi

i guess i should have been a little more clear. although this was sold as a "travel" humi it's big enough that i'm using it as a desktop unit to store my smaller smokes. so i bought the puck as a permanent humidifier solution. i do not plan to use this unit for travel, i have a smaller capacity box i will use for that purpose.

the cedar sheets were not put in to protect against beeds falling out, it was meant to be a humidity barrier so as not to saturate the cigars directly below that the Puck is sitting on

i will have about 40 smaller smokes in here at all times, are the sheets a better solution for this than the Puck?

if the puck fits, then use it. it will do the job. if space is an issue, then the sheets will do the job. there should be no problem with the puck coming in close contact to the cigars.

really watch the RH if the puck was designed for 50 cigars and your travel humi only has 10 the RH is going to be too high..

hmm, i'm not sure, it's a house brand humidor from an online shop, and came with a small metal disc humidifier. i never thought about trying to re-use that, although it looks pretty glued together, but i'll look around for those instructions. thanks

No true bro. You can't over humidify with the Puck-ifier

Re: puck placement in travel humi

if the element is the type i'm thinking of (might be wrong, just like the humi id!) you can pop the back off w/an eyeglass screwdriver-or just velcro a pantyhose bag of beads in its spot

thanks for clarifying, was starting to get comfused for a minute, as i thought that was the whole point to the beads!

i guess the only thing you can do with them is under-humidify, if you don't saturate them enough, or if you aren't using a big enough puck or as many pucks as needed for a particular enclosure.
