Climmax Beads/Drymistat

My friend has purchased the drymistat device for hi humidor. I know that several people here swear by the climmax beads. What's the difference? The drymistat seems like a great product, and only needs refilling about every 12 weeks. You can even see when it's time, because of the clear tube.

What do you think? Is one better/more convenient than the other?

They both claim to maintain a 70% RH.....but they both use different means to accomplish the end result.

I'm confused. Which should I get......The drymistat tube is only about 10 bucks, and seems pretty good.
Thoughts ?

Re: Climmax Beads/Drymistat

i haven't touched my climmax beads since i set up my humidor...
well, i have put a small cup with distilled water in the bottom of my humidor while i was out of town (it's crazy dry in my house this time of year). still running at 63-65% humidity though.

i've never used/seen drymistat devices.

Re: Climmax Beads/Drymistat

Sorry, can't answer your question for your avatar. Can she stop running long enough to post? No, the climmax beads are the best. I have the 65% in two cooladors and have never touched them. Varies from 65-67% all the time. Almost maintenance free. Or that's been the case for me.

Re: Climmax Beads/Drymistat

I've got the 70% Climmax beads since I live in the desert and I've not had a problem with them so far. I've got them running my fridgeador and my 75ct humi. I now swear by these little beads.

Re: Climmax Beads/Drymistat

Actually the only time I swear at my humi is when I notice how empty it is compared to some of the other LLG's

Not that its the humi's fault, mind you, it just makes me feel better.

Re: Climmax Beads/Drymistat

no such thing as a stupid question...just stupid people asking questions. So here goes.

My main problem is keeping my humidity below 75%. what will regulate it to stay between 67-73% right where I like it?

Thanks

Re: Climmax Beads/Drymistat

Thanks for the replies. I just happened to pick up the drymistat tube while I was at the tobacconist. It claims to do the exact same thing as the climmax beads. However, you have to add water every 12 weeks or so. I think I will get some climmax beads and do a little shoot-out, to see which is better.
Of course, I post the findings here.

In regards to the avatar: some of you may have checked out the thread "Free stuff is cool...." There was quite a bit said about the hypnotic effect of my little "runner-girl".

Bottom line was, if you approve of the avatar, then by all means feel free to bump up the ring guage a bit. I don't mind at all.....really!

Anyhow....here's a link to the drymistat thingy:

Re: Climmax Beads/Drymistat

Uniput you are a bigger whore than your avatar!

I love the climmax beads, they do an awesome job. The drymistat tube is more expensive if you weigh in the beads contained in that tube and compare them to the $28 shipped the climmax runs. It is still good to have the tube though because they are excellent for supplying humidity when travelling.

If it were a one or the other situation the climmax would be my first choice, particularly since you can get climmax in 65% which I prefer. Going both is a great choice too!

Re: Climmax Beads/Drymistat

Yes, I am a ho.
When it comes to golf, I am what is called a club ho.....whereby I seem to acquire clubs by any means possible....then sell them....then buy more.....then sell them....collect them.....sell them.....you get the picture.
Always on a never-ending quest to find the one club, usually a driver that will be the end-all be-all.
I am also a cigar ho. I buy them......smoke them.....buy them....horde them.....collect them....smoke them....buy them.....again.....you get the picture. Cigars are like golf clubs, too....in that we are always looking for the elusive perfect smoke....

My name is Uniputt.....and I approve this message.

Re: Climmax Beads/Drymistat

I just bought one tube of the Drymistat for my 9qt coolerador and hopefully it does a good job like the climax beads.
