Need some help with my Cigar Oasis Plus
I just received a Manassas humidor from Bargain Humidors as an early birhday present. I was going to get started with the seasoning process but noticed that I'm missing the red caps that are used to cover the holes of the reservoir. Are these caps absolutely necessary or could I just use some tape or leave the holes open? Suggestions?
thanks |

If these are the two red caps you are talking about. They need to be removed before attaching the reservoir to the top part of the oasis. ![]()

The caps are on there so the reservoir won't dry out prior to being used. If you received the reservoir with the caps missing, be sure before you attach it that it has not dried out. If it has dried out, you can always add some distilled water to it and it will be fine. ![]()

Not sure I follow you....
the Cigar Oasis came completely dry (sans water) from the factory. I mean, I had to add distilled water anyway, lest it function as a "dryador"

Re: Need some help with my Cigar Oasis Plus
It should have come from the factory all charged up (full of water) and capped. You should not have to add distilled water to a brand new reservoir. As long as you have added water to it and it is moist you are fine. Enjoy your new humi!!!

Thanks much.
She's purring along nicely. Do you find that the factory 70% settings are accurate?

Re: Need some help with my Cigar Oasis Plus
If I remember right they were pretty close. If it needs adjusting just turn the knob a little at a time. I have a couple of Antietams ( the smaller version of yours ) and they only took a day or so and they were ready to go. Enjoy!!

He he...no. But I have a little photo documentary planned....
....for the CS forums as soon as I get the photos from all my friends who attended my surprise party last night put on by my wife. Let's just say birthday parties don't get much better: Girls in Bunny suits waiting on me, a full top shelf bar, great food. And, of course, everyone was instructed to bring me cigars. My wife brought the humidor.
What a night. I've hardly recovered. Woke up this morning on the dining room floor with a pair of fish-netted legs draped over me. Quote:

Almost too good....
Mrs. Magno has alot to live up to next year.
![]() Hey, one more question. My oasis just shut down after running for about an hour and a half. When I opened the door, it started up again. It's only about 57%RH at this point. Is this normal given that the humidor is brand new? Shouldn't it be running perpetually for the next few hours? I guess I'm also wondering if these Western callber IIIs are generally accurate. thanks oh, and here's a pooping cow, cuz it's cute. ![]() |

Re: Need some help with my Cigar Oasis Plus
I don't think it should run constantly. It should turn on and off as the humidity rises. Just let it go over night and check it in the morning. If its still low turn up the humitiy level and check it again a few hours later. As far a the W.Calipers, I don't think I have one that is right on. All are off by 1-2 % +or- but for me thats close enough. I use to be all anal rententive about the humidity when I first got started. Now I just check them every once in a while to see if the humidity is falling. You'll get the hang of it.
Its all good. ![]()
