Anybody have any experience with this Avanti Wine Cooler?

http://www.amazon.com/Avanti-WC192SS...5189844&sr=8-7

It's only a 16-bottle, which is smaller than ideal, but I kind of want something for the spring before the building turn the air on.

My main question is how cold (warm) the lowest setting is? Meaning, how cold will it be on the warmest setting? I'd prefer not under 60, but I don't know and can't find the answer anywhere.

Any other info might help as well.

There is one on craigslist that is supposedly new for $65, might be able to haggle down to $50.

OK, after searching a lot and giving up, I searched some more. Looks like $62 degrees is the warmest setting.

Re: Anybody have any experience with this Avanti Wine Cooler?

I just got an Edgestar, I don't know how similar to an Avanti it is, but its a TE unit. It gets to about 63-4 on the warmest setting.

I didn't buy a temp controller, but have one on the way (Ranco). I don't necessarily think this temp is too cold for storage but it always kicks the cooling on dropping my RH and causing some condensation to drip down the back.

I would assume this will only get worse in the summer. However, doing searches here Ive read that some people have units that warm up into the high 60's. I don't think there is anyway to tell this though until you have it sitting in your house.

You can always use a temp controll form Johnson to regulate the temp to higher levels

Check this one out:

http://cgi.ebay.com/AVANTI-EWC28-BOT...QQcmdZViewItem

I have an Avanti 12 bottle, and the temp is adjustable from 50 to 66. But even when I set mine at 55, the actual temp inside according to the digital hygro is in the low 60s. Also room temperature will really mess with them.

David, I don't recommend buying an Avanti because the brand makes sub-par units. Marvel, GE, Summit, and a few other companies build very good wine coolers.

Unless your going on the notion of saving money on storage and spending it on cigars

Re: Anybody have any experience with this Avanti Wine Cooler?

There are a lot of threads about wine coolers, and many here have done this. I recommend you read some of them, lots of useful information. The Avanti or Edgestar 28 bottle TE is pretty popular, and I found that I did not need any temp controller when the unit was kept full.....which is not too hard to do.
Temp ran around 65-68 degrees.

You're going to fill it, period, you know you are. So the only problem with the one above is that it's not big enough. Avanti and Edgestar both make a 28 bottle unit, which from the looks of it is exactly the same unit, which means neither one of them probably make it and it's re-branded by them. My Edgestar 28 almost full sits at about 63 degress all of the time.

Re: Anybody have any experience with this Avanti Wine Cooler?

just bought an avanti wc292d 24-bottle wine cooler. at the highest thermostat setting, the inside stays at low to mid 60's.

connected a ranco temp controller set to 70 degrees. works well so far. hopefully the ranco will prevent the cooler from running as much, saving some energy.

will get a better idea when summer heat arrives here in the garden state.
