I for one always use my Xikar cutter. Works fine for me. Never tried a punch or scissor style cutter though.

I vary depending on the vitola I'm burning. The robustos get the cutter while the pc's get the punch!

Re: Preferred method of cutting

Obviously depends on the size/shape but I use the Xikar Guillotine most, also use the punch quite a bit, but I like the guillotine – I really can’t explain why. I would like to find a nice notch/V cutter the only ones I’ve seen around are pretty crappy.

I recently switched to a xikar and I'm loving it. I hear great things about the palio too though ... and you can't have too many cigar toys.

My palio rocks my world. I just got it, but I'm amazed every time I cut a cigar: perfectly smooth cut, no tobacco "dust."

I have a couple cheap double bladed guillotines. I use a Siglo punch on robustos fairly often.

My trusty Palio for the vast majority of the smokes. Anything that doesnt fit in there gets punched.

Re: Preferred method of cutting

I currently use a cheap punch I got at the B&M. I'll upgrade to a Palio cutter at some point, but until then, I don't trust cheap cutters (I've had two come apart on me).

I have yet to try the punch method, but all of mine have been with the guillotine.

Palio is my go-to, but I have recently started using a punch (thanks to Doug!!) which is pretty cool!
