Put those items in your checked luggage.

Matches will definately get you detained by TSA if they find it. I never have a problem carrying a cheapo cutter. They usually ignore it. But maybe I have been lucky. This is why I dont carry my good cutter just in case.

Put it all in your checked luggage if you are going to have any. As for the lighter or matches if you don't have checked luggage, you can always get some when you land at your destination. This will assure you having no problems.

I haven't flown in quite a long time, and hear that airport security is a real pain in the ass lately due to 911 and all that stuff.

I really want to bring my guilotine cutter PERFECTLY OK TO TAKE WITH CARRY ON OR CHECKED BAGGAGE. THEY WERE NEVER A PROBLEM AS THEY DIDN'T SEE THEM AS A BOX CUTTER TYPE DEVICE. THEY ARE NOW MOVING TOWARDS ALLOWING SCISSORS AND SOME OTHER ITEMS. DON'T FEAR TAKING A NICE CUTTER, and two boxes of sulfur free matches.ABSOLUTELY A NO-NO. NOT ALLOWED AT ALL AND WILL BE CONFESCATED. CANNOT TAKE ON CARRY ON OR ON CHECKED BAGGAGE AT ALL I would of rather brought my cigar lighter but I'm worried that it will not be allowed on, from what I've heard, and I'm worried if I pack it on my check luggage it might get stolen.ONLY WAY THEY ARE ALLOWED IS WITH THE COLIBRI TRANZ PACK - ABOUT $20. YOU HAVE TO PUT IT IN YOUR CHECKED BAGGAGE. CANNOT DO CARRY ON WITH IT. RECOMMEND YOU LEAVE THE TAG ON THE TRANZ PACK, EVENTHOUGH THEY KNOW WELL WHAT IT IS BY NOW. IF YOU JUST STICK THE LIGHTER IN YOUR BAG WITHOUT THE TRANZ PACK, IT WILL BE CONFESCATED AS THEY LOVE FINDING THEM.

Is there any suggestions on how to get my cutter through? I plan to smoke a few cigars while I'm away so I really want to get it through. I also own a cigar puncher but lately I've found I like the guilotine one a lot better so please do not suggest the punch as I've read other posts about how to get a punch through.

The only idea I have is for my sulfur free matches, I'll stuff them down my boxer shorts so they get through since they contain no metal. You think that will work? I've done similar stuff at nightclub security pat downs and got stuff through. CANDIDLY? WOULDN'T RISK IT. THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED. DON'T MESS WITH THEM. IF YOU DON'T GET THE TRANZ PACK, BUY A CHEAPO LIGHTER WHEN YOU GET TO YOUR DESTINATION OR BUY NICE MATCHES THERE

What ya think?
See above in bold.
I fly weekly and carry my goodies.
I think I can provide you with solid info here.

*All lighters are prohibited as carry-on items.
Lighters without fuel are permitted in checked baggage. Lighters
with fuel are prohibited in checked baggage, unless they adhere
to the Department of Transportation (DOT) exemption, which allows
up to two fueled lighters if properly enclosed in a DOT approved
case. If you are uncertain as to whether your lighter is prohibited,
please leave it at home.

** Up to 4 books of safety (non-strike anywhere) matches are
permitted as carry-on items, but all matches are prohibited in checked luggage.

Jon,
You are right.
Just LMAO as TSA doesn't agree with their own stuff.
Have seen many with their matches taken.
Was advised last week they will take my lighter from my checked baggage if not in the Tranz Pack as that is all they will allow now.
Either things have changed or my TSA guy was on steroids (which would be a kind thing to say about them).
It has gotten to the point that if not sure, don't risk it.

What airport are you flying out of, and what size are the Tommy Bahama shirts?

Just curious, that's all. I don't have any friends who work as baggage handlers. Really. Well, maybe one, but he is off that day. Whatever day that is, he is off. Really. He told me his schedule.

What size are the Tommy Bahama shirts again? I wear XXL. What size are yours? If they are XXL, please let me know what airline you are flying.

And what color is your suitcase?

I use this baby:

http://www.otterbox.com/products/zippo_case/

and have not had ANY problems. You can cram any lighter in there, not just a zippo.

True enough. Helps to have a hard copy of the TSA document linked to upthread.
In any case better safe than sorry. We usually just carry on book matches and buy a cheap lighter when we arrive. If I flew enough the approved lighter case might be worth getting.

Re: Airport Security Help!!!

this place http://www.littlehavanacigars.com/pr...?prod=CC1018HS has a ceramic cutter, might be worth checking out or try one of the "10 cutters for $2" deals-i'm sure cheap lighters can be had when you get there, as well as matches

That ceramic cutter looks pretty cool. Might just have to pick one up. Not a bad price either.

Re: Airport Security Help!!!

I flew south earlier this year and stored the lighter and cutter in my checked luggage. The way I see it, you stand a greater chance of losing your equipment to Security than to a baggage handler.

BTW, enjoy your trip to Cayo Coco (I'm sooooo jealous)! Will you be visiting any LCDH's or factories during your trip??

Re: Airport Security Help!!!

Flew up to New York and back, last week. Cutter was just fine to take on my carry on; however, were told to remove the matches (didn't want to chance taking and tossing my lighter). I guess that TSA doesn't fear too much that I'll have a flight attendant come over and put their finger in the cutter!

Re: Airport Security Help!!!

I have a brand new, never used, tags-intact Tranzpak I can mail you. You can mail it back to me when you return. (Along with some tasty Cuban sticks you bring back!)

Deal?
