No! ![]() Coolidor 001 Buy the biggest one you can. Toss in a couple pounds of beads. FUgggetaboutit. The point being they are virtually humidity tight. Active humidification is overkill unless you are using it to store things you go after to smoke. Long term storage? Check it every few weeks just to air it out. The cigars come in cedar boxes. ![]() |

Re: Coolerdor 101 (56k Hostile!)
Well I bought a big plastic tupperware thing instead of a cooler yesterday at walmart for 7 bux. I knew the lid didn't create a great seal compared to the coolers so I'm testing it right now to see what I can get the humidity stable at. I will report the humidity when she has peaked.
There are 4 oz of beads in 1 bowl and distilled water in the other: ![]() ![]() |

Re: Coolerdor 101 (56k Hostile!)
This may work. But I would highly recommend that you invest in coolers. You are spending hundreds or thousands of dollars on cigars. If you are going to age them for any period of time, don't skimp on the storage environment. A tighter seal is neccessary to reduce airflow and create as an undisturbed environment as possible conducive to aging. It will also save you from having to maintain the beads more often. You dropped some cash on those Fuentes. You might as well spend the extra $20 for a good cooler.

Re: Coolerdor 101 (56k Hostile!)
update:
i got rid of the tuperware humidor and moved to this: ![]() ![]() Much better idea, thank you club stogie! I'm already at 63% RH so I have moved my cigars in their new home. A box of 24 arturo fuentes cuban belicosos will rest there for a while. Well actually, I put 3 in my humidor and 1 in my mouth. Look for the review in a few mins. |

Re: Coolerdor 101 (56k Hostile!)
Alright, I'm going to get a bit of spanish cedar today to get my coolerdor going. I'm going to start out with a little personal cooler for the time being, since it's what I've got lying around, and I don't have the money to spend on a bunch of cigars, anyway.

When you get that bit, just get a box or two to set in the cooler for storage I don't think there is a benefit to gluing it to the sides(unless the cooler is too small for a whole box ). Besides you will be getting a bigger cooler in 1 month guaranteed. |

Re: Coolerdor 101 (56k Hostile!)
How long should I keep the cup of water in there before removing it and putting in the Boveda pack? I broke up that Fuente box and used the bottom and a couple of the sides. I cut it to fit, since the cooler has slots in it for dividers and a top shelf. I'll try to get a pic up tomorrow.

Re: Coolerdor 101 (56k Hostile!)
well someone put too much water in their coolerdor. left this morning and my cooler was at 65%
came home and it was at 75%. i need to get more beads, but for the time, i just removed the water bowl while the beads restore my humidity. im back at 65% but i will see if it tries to go back up. |
