Yet Another Humidor Question

Sorry to be a bother about my humi but it seems to be a pain in the ass. For about two days now, my humi has been holding at 61%. Before that, it was holding pretty constant at 66-68%. I am using two of those crystal tubes as humidification. Any suggestions would be much appreciated and I cannot express the amount of gratitude for the continued advice. Hopefully I can be on the other end soon.

Re: Yet Another Humidor Question

1) do the crystals need water?

2) beads, beads, beads. They be the bees knees.

3) was the humi properly seasoned before hand? If not the wood could still be absorbing moisture from the air.

Re: Yet Another Humidor Question

What's a matter with 61%? Do you less cigars in there than you did before? An empty humidor is hard to regulate.

Now try to keep it around 61+% and you'll be set.

I would salt test your hygrometer to ensure it's functioning properly first.

Otherwise, follow everyone's suggestions.

I like the one about filling the humi with cigars. Nothing helps maintain proper humidity in the humi better than keeping it FULL!!!!

Also........use the beads. I use 65% beads and have no worries.

Definitely!

Replace the batteries and calibrate your hygrometer(s) annually!

That and it could have fell if you just added cigars to it. Give it some time to stabilize. If you have a good seal and a humi device you should be fine and 61% is not that far off from the optimum 65% we all seek.

I was wondering if I didn't have a good seal, what could I do to fix that? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
