Question About Cigar Oasis XL

I'm using one in my coolerdor - was wondering how accurate others find the RH reading on the unit to be.

Thanks

Don't have mine any longer but when I did, I found it quite good as long as the oasis had moisture.
Seems as it dried out, the unit would run continuously.

Works perfect, keep mine around 70%. The only thing that concerns me is the fact that I have to add more distilled water every week or so.

Re: Question About Cigar Oasis XL

Mine works great and is very accurate. I have mine paired with a Western Caliber III hygro and the readings are never more than a point or two apart.
I keep mine at 66-67 and it is almost 100% worry free. I had to add distilled water every couple of weeks until my humi stabilized, now about once every 6-8 weeks.

Mine works great and is very consistent. I found it to be off by about 5% but once I figured it out I was able to adjust the setting to get the 65% i want in my mini cabinet.

Re: Question About Cigar Oasis XL

Mine is very accurate. I salt tested my digital hygrometer and found it to be +1. The Oasis is off that 1% making it spot on.

I recommend an Oust fan in conjunction with it. I have mine in a large desktop and the bottom always seemed a bit higher RH than the bottom. Even though the Oasis has a built in fan, it doesn't run unless it needs to add moisture. In a cooler, I assume it runs even less, so I say throw an Oust fan in there with it.

I personally think the Oasis is great!

What should I do to make mine last 6-8 weeks?

Well, I have mine in a large desktop humi. I've never used it in a cooler. It just seemed to take a while for the RH to stabilize nicely with the cedar interior. I basically used the Oasis to "season" the humi. Now the periods in between refills are usually about what I posted earlier.

Re: Question About Cigar Oasis XL

I have one in my coolerdor and one in my humi - both are off by about 5% as n3uka said, but I use a Caliber III hygro to keep an eye on the RH.

Re: Question About Cigar Oasis XL

Mine was fabulous when my fridgador was half full. It seems to be struggling a bit with the thing being totally full but I'm goign to add a couple of oust fans and 1.5 pounds of beads this weekend to help.

Re: Question About Cigar Oasis XL

I use one with about 12 oz. of beads and I only add distilled water a few times a year. If the hygrometer seems to be off in yours you can reset the computer inside. Give the company a call for instructions because I can't remember how.
