Digital Hygrometer from Pet store?

I went up to my Local pet store today and purchased a digital Hygro/thermo-meter. It looks just like the ones I see in pics of peoples humidors. But, this one is intended for monitoring Reptile Climates. It was only $19.95 and I didnt have to worry about shipping, so I went for it.


Think itll work just as well?

Don't see why not. I would calibrate it though...just be safe.

They are all good.

It doesnt matter were you get them. Usually anything over $15.00 is pretty descent.

It's probably not much different from the ones they sell at places like Target and Wallmart... except Walmart also has an even cheaper model too ($7).

I've seen hygros at pet stores that look exactly the same as the cheaper weather station hygros at places like walmart... the pet store ones are usually a little more pricey and sometimes a different color plastic and in a slightly different package... but I don't see why they couldn't work.

at $20 tho, I think I'd rather just pay a tiny bit more and get an adjustable one from someone like Mark @ cigarmony... if I'm not mistaken, he sells an adjustable hygro with the $5 one step calibration kit for $26... sure after shipping, it's gonna be around $30... but, personally, I think it's a better hygro.

if you just wanna go cheap, I'd go with the $7 Wallmart beauties... I keep one in each of my coolers... I also have a remote wireless weatherstation sensor in them too, so the two hygros sorta keep each other in check. just to counter balance the $7 Walmart hygro's reputation for failing... but so far so good...

good luck with pet one... after verifying with a salt test or calibration kit, it should be fine.

Is it the Flukers one? I bought myself one of those on eBay and it's a fine hygrometer. It's quite narrow and thin so it's perfect for use in humidors and mine's within 2%, which is pretty good.

Looks good to me. I'd buy one If I needed another for the cheap price on eBay.
