Question which of these Digital Hygrometer?

Hi folks,
Thinking about buying a digital hygrometer from my new humi. So far I have found these two.

Western Caliber III Digital Hygrometer and Credo Digital Thermo-Hygrometer.

I really fancy buying the Western Caliber III Digital Hygrometer. What do theexperts on here think? Which one is best?

Re: which of these Digital Hygrometer?

I have several Western Caliber IIIs that I'm very pleased with. I don't have any knowledge of the other.

Another hygro. that you might want to look at comes from Heartfelt. It's the adjustible hygrometer shown here.

Adjustable Hygrometer

This one has worked well for me also.

I'm happy with the Western Caliber III. Credo makes good products but they usually cost twice as much.

Re: which of these Digital Hygrometer?

My only advice is to get one that is adjustable! Makes it nice and easy to calibrate them properly and not have to do any math to determine what the actual RH is if they're off. Just my .

Comes with a calibration test for a couple bucks extra. I like being sure.

Re: which of these Digital Hygrometer?

FWIW, I've tested all sorts of hygrometers (Western III, Diamond Crown, Radio Shack wireless units, etc...) using the Boveda calibration pack, and have found that the most precise ones are the Western III. Of the 10 or so I have, most are spot on and only a few are off by only 1 point.

I have two Western IIIs, and one self-branded from somewhere. The Western IIIs are off by 2 and 1 point. The self-branded one started off by 4 points and is now off by 8 points.

Needless to say, I'm going with a Western III from now on.

As for the post about doing the calculations, it's really easy to get a small sticky label and write "+1" or "-2" or whatever on it so you know how far off it is. As long as you don't have to remember which one is off by how much, doing the additional math isn't tough.

Re: which of these Digital Hygrometer?

I have a Western Caliber III and its as easy as it gets. No calibration needed. It is off by 1 but I can live with that. I recently bought 2 other hygrometers that were adjustable only because I wanted a round one and I think the Western Caliber only comes in one size.

10? Yeah right, you've ordered 10 in the last 6 months!

I agree though, right out of the box, the Western Caliber IIIs have been the most reliable digital hygrometers that I could find without spending close to $100.

Re: which of these Digital Hygrometer?

They are both very good units.

You should have no problem with either one. I have a Western in my coolador and it seems to be dead on.

So I guess i would go with the Western.

Re: which of these Digital Hygrometer?

I'd throw a vote out for the small black Prometheus unit....works damn good for me with no calibration needed. Only downside is it's price...
