Newbie with humidor question
Hi, First post here and I have a question about my new humidor, I have searched the past threads and it seemed to confuse me more, anyhow I have had a cup of water in my humidor for three days and after calibrating the hydrometer I placed in the humidor today and it is reading 86% with the cup of water still in it. Is it time to remove the cup? is it time to place some sticks in it? Is it time to place some solution on the puck ? I need help this is stressing me out. Oh it is a small 10- 15 stick humi. Thanks for all your help. Mike

Re: Newbie with humidor question
Welcome to Club Stogie. You should head over to the New Gorilla forum and introduce yourself.
Since you've already calibrated your hygro, I'd see what the humi measures without the cup of water in there. Have you charged the humidifier? |

Re: Newbie with humidor question
If you have calibrated the hygrometer and sure it is accurate, I would take out the water and put in the cigars. Keep an eye on the readings and when the Rh gets to your desired level, put the puck with the solution back into the humidor.
It will take awhile for everything to "level out" so don't "stress"...that's very common when your starting out. and...Welcome to Club Stogie! . Last edited by Blaylock; 07-09-2007 at 08:53 PM.. |

Also, the smaller the humi, the more it will fluctuate just from opening it for a few seconds. And as other people will tell you -- get some beads!!! Here is a thread about converting your solution based puck to one with beads (well worth the read, and has pictures too!): http://www.clubstogie.com/vb/showthr...humidity+beads

Re: Newbie with humidor question
I have three humi's that i have seasoned, I have allways waited till the RH gets down to 67-73% Rh before putting any sticks in. The first humi i added cigars two fast and it seem to plug some of my sticks. It takes a little longer, but worth the wait. And yes the Beads are much easey to use.
