HUMIDOR HELP... suggestions...

Hey all,

I just found some substance on my round humidifier that looked like mold so i went ahead and threw it out... Now i have replaced that with a jar of madeleins crystal jel. Should I still have another humidifying device or will the jar of the crystal solution do alright... My humididty is staying around 64 right now... any suggestions??? SEE PICTURES

Unless you prefer your cigars to be stored at an exact temperature, 64% is perfectly acceptable (normal being 60-70%).


That jar should keep a humidor that small perfectly hydrated on it's own, just make sure the jar stays hydrated like the instructions say.

That gel is ok but if you want really stable rh, check out humidification beads. They are conditioned in various rh% to suit your taste. All you need to know about them is posted in a sticky post in this forum.

BTW, I keep my cigars between 62-65% so I wouldn't consider 64 bad, but your taste may vary.

I have never used the jell but have been thinking about trying it to see how well it works. If it's working for you, I say keep using it.

I would suggest buying the bead tubes from Heartfelt. http://heartfeltindustries.com/products.asp?cat=14
They work great, keep the beads nice and neat and are easy to recharge! The best decision I ever made.

if i have one of those tubes, do you just lay the tube in the humidor or do you have to poor them into a bag?
