Question about ACU-RITE digital thermometer/hydrometer
I picked one up at lowes today for 12 bucks. It tells the inside temp/humidity level, and also has a probe on a 10' wire that you can put outside and get outside temperature readings. I'm not interested in the outside temp, so my question is, would it be ok to just cut off the wire and probe?
I was hoping that someone else has done this before, and can comment on whether or not it worked. Ive seen several of them in use in the "show your humidor" thread, so I know that others are using this type as well. It would suck to cut the probe off and then have the inside temp/humidity stop working too. Thanks in advance! ![]() |

Re: Question about ACU-RITE digital thermometer/hydrometer
Coincidentally, I just did this a couple of days ago. Calibrated it again afterwards, and so far there doesn't seem to be a problem.

Re: Question about ACU-RITE digital thermometer/hydrometer
Just a thought, if you wanted to cut the wire without having some extra dangling off, remove the back of the acu-rite. The probe is just soldered onto the circuit board. Either cut it so it's too short to come out of the plastic housing, or tuck the extra inside.
