Dupont Ligne 1 question.....

I have a Dupont Ligne 1, and was wondering about filling procedure. Red gas tubes that seem to need threading to the lighter to fill. It seems to work fine, but when removing(unthreading) the gas, I get lots of back spray. Is this normal, or is there anything I'm doing wrong. Seems messy for such a fine lighter. Also, does one gas tube fill the lighter once and only once? They do seem empty after I fill the lighter. Filling instructions are not very clear to me. Thanks.

Although I have a ligne 2, i think i can answer at least part of your question. The way i was told to fill the lighter was to completely bleed out any remaining fuel. Once the lighter is empty, you refill it with the complete canister of the corresponding gas. The back spray may be due to the fact the lighter was not completely empty, and it sprayed out because it was full. Did you empty the entire canister refilling the lighter?

Re: Dupont Ligne 1 question.....

Yes, I followed that procedure. I bled out all remaining fuel and air, then screwed on the canister for probably 20 seconds. Again, no real instructions from Dupont. The canister appears totally empty after removal, but the back spray is nasty until the can is completly unscrewed from the lighter. Still, it's a fine lighter that I seldom need to fill, thankfully. Maybe I need to practice my unscrewing so I get faster.

It also helps if you will put the light in the freezer for about 1 to 2 min before filling. I just lay mine on top of the ice. Try that and see if that helps.
