My 1st Humi was a 50 ct but it was given to me. I filled that one up in a month so being a noob I listened to the oldtimers on this site and bought a bigger Humi than I thought I would ever need. It's a 300 ct Glass top with room on the bottom for 3 boxes . It is still not big enough. I think I'm gonna go with a Coolerdor next....after that convert the Bedroom closet. If you just started smoking cigars stop now! Run while you still have a chance!

Definitely think big. Well, if at least you're "serious" about this cigar thing. I'm on my fifth or sixth humidor -- I've lost track in the last few years. Don't waste time (who are you kidding anyway) and go for the cabinets. You can always use the coolerdors for a temporary solution.

This story line is one that is regularily repeated. Here is another brother's tale, 909's:

Yep, over and over, the story is told again and again.

In order to fix any future problems before they arise, I've decided to buy a smaller house in the 1200sq ft range somewhere close to my home and convert it to a Home-ador. I figure that if I go dual pane tinted windows, seal around the door, line the walls with Spanish Cedar and buy a 1/2 ton truck scoop of 65% RH beads and spread them around in each room, I should be good to go for the long haul.

Re: Buying your first humidor, or thinking of upgrading?

Well I was fine with my 50ct humidor until I found CS. After a week of being
here I had to buy a new 150ct humidor. It is starting to get full and I think I
have some smokes coming from a few gorillas. I still have my empty 50ct I can
fill up and the rest of my 150ct. So I will be good for awhile..... i think ........
someone could prove me wrong....

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Buying your first humidor, or thinking of upgrading?

it's almost time to add me to "the list".

sure, i have an "edison-a-dor", but it's getting pretty packed in there with 18 boxes (and it's almost april - time to place another order).

i've been surfing the "cabinet" style humi's, a little smaller than bruce5's (like an avallo or aristocrat - would love to have alrin liss make me one, but i don't have that much money, and i'm sure they're worth every penny for that craftsmanship).

anyway, i'm debating it in my wee mind.

So many, many interesting things come to mind when I think of "crotch mahogany" and relative humidity ... maybe it's just me. That said, those are some gorgeous cabinets.

Re: Buying your first humidor, or thinking of upgrading?

This thread has been very enjoyable for me. It was if I got to look back at
my mindset, see where it was going and see where it ended up.....
Thank you Roger Miller
.
There was a stop for me in between where I had 2 full coolerdors, one large
and one medium. A $25 dollar cooler and some beads or an oasis is a great
place to stay for a long time... very cost effective and able to hold hundreds of cigars.
.
And 909, love the home-a-dor.
