Lucienne Butane
After getting my Z-Plus insert, I wanted to get a good butane to use in it.
While at the B&M the other day, I looked at the Xikar Fuel. I now it is great fuel, but War Eagle told me about the Lucienne. It is over twice the size for less money. It is Quad Refined, so I got a can. I purged the Z-Plus clean and filled with the Lucienne. I had no blowback from the filler stem. I also detected no odor. Upon striking, I could tell it burned truer than the Colibri fuel I had in it. I think this is a great product, especially for the money - 10 oz. for $4.95. ![]() A cool feature it has is different nozzles that break away from the cap to get the fit you need. ![]() The meatel tip also pivots a little. Seems to allow a truer seat than rigid tipped cans. ![]() As you can see, it is supposed to have Zero Impurities. ![]() I'm sold on it.

Re: Lucienne Butane
It is great stuff!!! It is so well refined that it will not foul up any type of lighter, that accepts butane fuel. I actually happened on it while in a Dunhill Shop, in Las Vegas, about 10, maybe 12 years ago. They were not selling it but they had a can behind the counter, so to speak, which they let me use to fill my Old Boy Pipe Lighter that had just run out of fuel. I've been using it ever since!

Re: Lucienne Butane
I picked this stuff up at my local B&M the other day too, seems to work very well. I get all kinds of slashback but that's probably because I don't know how to fill a lighter (other than holding the whole works upside down).

Re: Lucienne Butane
jamz, I have had splash back before also. I read a thread here about putting your lighter in the freezer for 5-10 minutes before refilling it. I thought it was a joke untill I tried it. The cold lighter seems to suck the butane right out of the canister with no mess. "Try it, you'll like it."

Re: Lucienne Butane
I also have a Z-plus insert and tried to fill it with the Lucienne Butane. I have all kinds of blow-back/splash-back. I tried freezing the lighter, as someone suggested, but that only seemed to make it worse. After filling, I can get a very minimal flame, but not as large as I used to be able to. Does anyone have suggestions on cleaning the lighter somehow to make it work? I've purged the air from the lighter, blown forcefully into the top of the lighter to get ride of dirt, etc., but nothing works...
