Re: shilala beads

Put three eight ounce bags of HCM beads in my vinotemp. The vinotemp has approx four boxes of full and partly full cigars in it as well as several empty boxes. The humidity was around 58% when i put the beads in. It took maybe 2 or three hours to bring it up to 63%. I put a couple of dishes of distilled water in and you could almost watch the RH go up. It is now at 67% and holding steady. Great beads.

Re: shilala beads

Got mine over the weekend and put them into to both my humidors; both have recently calibrated hygrometers. 67% and holding steady... no fuss no muss. Great beads. Highly recommended.

Re: shilala beads

I have three eight ounce sticks of the HCM beads from Scott. I can' say enough good about them. They stabilized in my vinotemp very quickly and it took about a week or ten days before I could take the water in bowls out.
They have held very nicely at 65% since then. Scott was also very gracious when I called to talk to him about the beads explaining the difference in the different beads. We probably talked 45 minutes. After he received payment the shipping was very fast.

Thumbs up for Shilala

Thumbs up Re: shilala beads

I just received my beads today. I snagged 4 - 4 ounce bags, and he sent one of unknown weight as a freebie! Guess I could weigh it?

At Shilala's suggestion, I salt test calibrated my Wester Caliber III Digital hygros. I let them sit for 48 hours. Good thing too, one was -2% off and the other was -3% off, so I labeled them accordingly and put them back in the 16 bottle Vinotemp along with one bag of beads per shelf. The humidity dropped from 69% RH quite rapidly to 65%. I let it drop to about 60% and hold for a while, before taking further action and will follow the instructions provided to bring about any desired changes.

Thanks again Scott! Dude, you rock!

I fussed with your beads for what seemed like forever to make sure they were at 60%.
I'm interested in seeing how it all works out for you. Please let me know your experience. You're in a special bracket with the 60% beads.
They work even better at giving adsorbing humidity at 60% than at 65%.
They even work a little better at gathering water vapor at 60%.
Make sure you salt test your hygro before you make any adjustments.
It's absolutely imperitive.
Thanks Michael!!!

Re: shilala beads

I tested his tiny beads a while back.

The one thing that amazed me was how fast they would change the RH.

I use and love my 2lbs of Heartfelt beads. The shilala work the same, only much faster.

I bought a tower cabinet yesterday and will be using both Heartfelt and shilala beads in it.

Re: shilala beads

I can't speak to the other beads but these beads are everything mentioned above and more. I used to fuss with the gel sticks and the like and my humis were never stable. I've been using these beads for about 3 to 4 weeks and haven't had to do anything. Put them in the humis and 67% solid ever since. I calibrated my hygrometers just to make sure. No problems... I highly recommend these beads.

Re: shilala beads

WELL, WELL, WELL....... I got my ten pounds of beads today! Shilala sent them to my old address but they still made it to me!

These things are like sand bags. I will report back in a few days to let you know how the humidity is holding!

They look great Scott! Nice work on making those bags!

If boredom is what you are looking for the order Scotts' beads... Had them in my vino for a month now and only time the reading is not 65% is if I open the door for a few minutes...then it is back to 65% in a matter of minutes. Great Product!
