Re: Cutters

It all comes down to personal preference to cutters. I personally use a Palio, but Mark (vstrommark) uses a Xikar because it works/fits better in his hands. Does that make one any better than the other? Nope, just goes to show that different mechanics work better for some people than other.

My recommendation? Play with both and see which you like better for cutting action. Both offer great warranties on their products so you really can't go wrong.

Palio
I have used Xikar and Palio and I like the Palio the best.
Very comfortable in the hand and cuts perfect.

Re: Cutters

One little extra to remember is that the Palio is contoured to act as a cigar rest if you're in a pinch.

Re: Cutters

goatfarmer, like the thread. i think i'm now in the market for a new cutter as well so this is helpful. i am using a "shark" which my wife bought me a few months ago. looks nice, but the screw popped out of one of the hinges and now it's difficult to use. the manufacturer said they'd fix, but i'm still waiting. like the sound of the palio and the look of the xikar.

Re: Cutters

Usually cheap, if it was'nt for the retailer, I would probably be using my teeth. Recently noticed the cheapo's are not cutting very well, the end of the Oliva V smoked last night looked as if I used a hack saw. Anyhow Dinosaur, I am with you I like the appearance of the Xikar, but the Palio sounds better. May hold off for couple days, believe there is a B&M that is within a reasonbable traveling distrance carrys both, once I use the Palio likely be sold.

Re: Cutters

I have both the Xikar and the Palio, but the Palio is the one I always use. It comes with a case and the ciagr rest is just another plus.

Re: Cutters

I have a bunch of cutters. A few cheapie ones, a couple Xikars and two different styles of Palios.

The others have just been collecting dust since I got the Palio. Wouldn't even consider using something else nowadays.

Dustin knows things. I have two Xikars sitting the the drawer, while my Palio does the heavy lifting.
