Colibri CX Gear Tempest...

Bought this lighter a couple of months ago. Lit 2 cigars before the plastic cap melted and broke off. The lighter still works as a lighter, but the spring on the lid didn't keep it open far enough to keep it away from the flame. After lighting my first cigar the cap melted to the point that it would no longer latch closed, the second cigar did the cap in completely and it broke off.

Re: Colibri CX Gear Tempest...

Colibri lighters seem to be really junky. I had a chancellor, nice easy action to the button and a nice weight, but that was the only good thing about it. Hard to fill, ran out of gas quickly, died suddenly when the tank cracked in the cold.
I have got a couple of cheaper ones free from JR's, they are also junk.

When you can buy a tiger or nibo for $8 it really puts the Colibris to shame.

Re: Colibri CX Gear Tempest...

I have a Colibroke lighter in my pencil drawer... worked for about 2 weeks and died. I have nothing good to say about them.

Funny you mention the tiger lighter... I have had one of these for about 12 months now and fill it 2-3 times per week and it JUST KEEPS WORKING! I think I paid about $14 for it (triple flame, too!). I have a Z-Plus insert in a Zippo of mine that also works very well.... also about $12-$14 I think....

I wish I had 3 or 4 nice Padron '64s instead for the price I paid for that Colibra-cr@p... bitter? no, not me! LMAO...

Jeff, does that one have a plastic cap? I just can't comprehend why Colibri would put a plastic cap on a lighter that burns at ~2000 degrees.

Like I say, mine still produces a flame and works. Just the quality of the unit sucked.

Cheers!!
Steve

It is not a plastic cap.

I seen those lighters and it baffled me as well as to why they'd put plastic on a lighter.

Good benifit to having this section.
