Be as kind as you can to them and ask only for a NEW REPLACEMENT for both lighters. Once you get the new lighters back, put them on EBay and use the money to get a Dunhill or Dupont...

I have "The Don" by Colibri and the only thing I've noticed is that it uses a $hitload of fuel!!

Amen! I'm pretty sure that if you drink enough bourbon and pee in the wadding the thing will light. The torches look cool and sexy, but I always carry one of my Zippos with me just in case (loaded with either alcohol or naptha, not recycled bourbon).

I'm upset that such a popular brand can be so unreliable. I will be calling them soon and giving them a piece of my mind. Now I need to find myself a zippo insert and lighter. Sorry but I needed to vent.

I came to the same conclusion you did about two years ago. Nothing's better than a Bic.

I can never light a cigar with a Bic without burning the holy hell outta my thumb. Big thumbs I guess.

Never had a Colibri, but the little single torch Blazer I got a month or so back is working like a champ. From reading here on CS, it appears that Colibri is perhaps better at manufacturing an image than they are their lighters.

This sounds like my cheapo $5 torch lighter I got from some guy on the street in NYC like 2 years ago. I don't spend the extra money on the better fueld and just use the ronson stuff from the drug store and it has been working since I got it. When its low I just top it off. I figure for what I paid for it, its not worth the hassle to try and baby it.

Re: Colibri will never have my business again.

Mine's still working, though I've always had an issue with it since I got it. Everytime I refill it, fuel goes spewing everywhere, like the tip on the COLIBRI FUEL can doesn't fit the valve on the lighter. Other than that, it's worked ok for nearly a year.

I wouldn't buy another one though. I'll stick to the cheapies, they seem to be less hassle for me anyway.

I'm happy to report that my new Zplus insert is working great and that my two colibris are going back to the factory. Colibri!

Re: Colibri will never have my business again.

I had two Colibris. One double flame quit working after a month. No amount of purging or adjusting would make it work. I could have sent it back, but I was so mad I just threw it in the trash. The other Colibri is a triple flame model that is still working, but it burns more fuel than my V-8 truck. I have to refill it at least once a week. Recently bought a Blazer Micro Torch and am quite happy with it so far. I also have a triple flame cheapy that cost $5 and it is still working great.
