have a colibri lighter, never had one problem with it. I did replace it with a lotus because i get upgradeidist at times.

if you want a good reliable lighter thats not to expensive, get a lotus lighter.

My colibri has been nothing but trouble since the original butane ran out, either. Although I admit I did try and fill it with the cheap stuff before I learned better.

Re: Colibri will never have my business again.

Learned this from an Ashton rep.....take good old lighter fluid (the charcoal stuff) and just drip it over the small holes where the flame comes out....do this 2 or 3 times...cleans the carbon out left over from a poorly filtered butane. Then let it dry and fill the lighter up entirely and take a small screw driver or pen and purge it entirely. Shake it and try tp purge again. Fill up with 4x's or 5x's filter and enjoy. I guarantee it will be better.

I have the Colibri LTR700 it has a cutter in the bottom. Now it is just a cutter. Damn gaskets blew out on me. So I went out and bought a Xikar Exodus in black....with a lifetime warranty! And if you register it on their site they send you a free case for it. That's right free! Colibri who???????

Re: Colibri will never have my business again.

I have had mixed results with Colibri lately. I had an old CEO that I bought many, many years ago that was bulletproof. I finally wore it out and had to send it back to Colibri for repair. They looked at it and instead of repairing it and sending me a monster bill they sent me a letter telling me that it would cost more to repair than it would be worth and offered me a new lighter for $25.00. I have had other Colibri's that were junk from the day they were purchased. The good news was that Colibri always fixed them at no cost but it was a real pain in the a$$ to have to return such an expensive lighter.

I have since move to Xicar. They are great but tend to have to be refueled lots more often than my Colobris.

Re: Colibri will never have my business again.

My Triplex and Trifecta are both still firing up fine after years of service, and I suspect they always will, since I always use premium butane.

I also have several cheaper Colibri's, even a couple of giveaways from CI and other companies and they ALL work fine.

I honestly don't know what the fuss is all about with the Colibri hating...they're as good as anything else, just take care of them and use good gas.

Re: Colibri will never have my business again.

I agree with the above: My Colibri Enterprise ROCKS. It never fails, and besides the fact that the triple torch eats gas, I've never had a problem. You definitely have to follow the instructions with a Colibri, which may surprise you. To drain all the extra 'air' out while the lighter is still UPRIGHT is a must, and use only Colibri gas. I'm not trying to convert anyone here. I'm sure you're happy with your Ronson's and PB's and they're all free of defects.

Re: Colibri will never have my business again.

I agree with all the other people that said to just buy better butane. I had 2 colibri firebirds from a while ago when I won them on cigarbid. I finally used one up( I normally couldn't find it) and after I used the colibri fuel it would try to light but couldn't hold a flame. I just got in 3 cans of Vector 2 nights ago. I had to refill/purge the lighter 3 times with it but it finally worked. I think either Vector or Lava will work but I went with Vector because I found it cheaper. The Ronson's are nice as well I personally will not pay more than 10$ for a lighter because I tend to lose them.

I agree with you,,,I bought my last Colibri about 3 years ago and it is a piece of a$$,,,it cost more than $75 and I have had at least 2 different kinds. The same is for Prometheus lighters,,,they are good for about 2 months and then problems and I use the highest rated butane. Now I use the 3 fer $30 lighters and they burn and burn and burn,,,go figger!!!
