Acu-Rite 00613 Digital Hygrometer from Wal-Mart

Acu-Rite 00613 Digital Hygrometer
Price: $7-9 at Wal-Mart

I found this hygrometer near the paints, glues, sealants, etc. I guess they vary from Wal-Mart to Wal-Mart. Just ask a clerk where the thermometers are and (if they speak English ) they'll point you towards the right direction.

The hygrometer looks very attractive compared to the other ones you usually find at Wal-Mart for the same price. It requires a 1 AA battery (not included) to operate. It has a magnetic strip on the back of the pager-like clip to attach it to metal surfaces. It also has a pin designed to turn the clip into a stand. It has a button on the back to change the Temp reading from F to C. Do you basic salt test and you should be good to go.

So far so good. Overall, a nice digital hygrometer for the price. + It's cheap and you can find it locally.

Good review.

I have the same hygrometer in my coolidor, and it read the same (74%) after about 30 hours in the salt pit.

I have one of these and it's fairly accurate. Last time I tested it, it came in at 69%.

Nice photos. I have the same one. I like that it displays the highs and lows.

Weird thing happened to mine today. I’ve been attempting to do the salt test and took the battery out to reset the high and low. Put the battery back in and no display, then about an hour later it inexplicably started working again.

That is a very swank looking humidity monitor.
I like the high/low feature. When I go to Wally next time I'm going to see if I can find one and try it out.
Thanks for the review. Very well done!!!

Nice review. I had read of WalMart hygrometer's, but have never found one. I had no idea where to look. Now I have a direction and will seek one out on my next trip.

I have 2 of them, they are about as good as the rest, but cheaper.... Which leaves more money for cigars!

Re: Acu-Rite 00613 Digital Hygrometer from Wal-Mart

i picked up 2 of these exact units from Target last week. i havent done a salt test on them but the thing that worries me is that they vary by 5-9%rh from one another during different times of the day.

price and looks - theyre great. quality is something im not too sure of...

I have three of these (two still in the package). The one I use is within 1% of a recently calibrated digital hygro.

I have noticed that they take a REALLY long time to settle on a reading. it seems that they do not sample very often.

In honor of this thread I put this little guy back into a Boveda 75.5% pack. After 4 hours it read 75% and it stayed there for 24 hours. Guess I got one of the good ones.

this is also true - it takes forever for these guys to readjust to changes in ambient RH.

upon checking again today, the 2 readings are showing between 5-10 % differences from one another. i wouldn't mind fixed variances but the inconsistent swings are telling me at least 1 of the units is of poor quality and not worthy to be inside my humidors =/

my 2 cents...
