Well I am on my 3rd one now. The first one was 10 pts off.Exchanged that one and picked up another one. Now these 2 are 10pts off also. The temp is pretty close but the RH is way off. My thoughts are so far is not waste your money and time. They do have a 1 year warranty if you wanted to mess with that. I was hoping to give you guys some good news but it dosent look good. RJT

Same here only worse. The one I put in my humi is currently registering -16%. My csonka is -8% with the salt test and currently reads 58%, the Walmart special only reads 50%. I would say save your money and buy from Radio Shack or elsewhere.

Cheers!!
Steve

Re: $6.78 Walmart Digital Hygrometer

Im also having issues, it keeps flip flopping every minute or so between a different temp and rh. For example its reading 68* and 71% and then a minute or so later its reading 66* and 66%. I have no clue what the fu*k is going on with it and I dont think its switching between the max and min because the max min light isnt showing when it switches between. I think I might go and return it.

Re: $6.78 Walmart Digital Hygrometer

well guys after putting the wally world hyrgo in the salt test and having it f up I decided to stick it in my cooler next to my radio shack one that I calibrated a while back to be within 3%. I put them in for a couple hours while I went to my local shop to get a humidifing device and when I got back I was surprised big time. The temp was dead on to my rad shack and the humidity was 1% higher making it only 2% off if Im correct. I just put in my dri mistat beads and have the hyrgros running side by side so I will keep everyone posted to see if they are still accurate.

My test was done with the salt method. I put in my known RS one and it read exactly 75% and the WM one was 10% off. All three did the same thing. Think I will stick with the RS ones. RJT

Re: $6.78 Walmart Digital Hygrometer

Well, mine are still OK. THey are matching my other hygomerter perfectly. The problem is, one of them is pretty slow to adjust. If I take it out of the humidor and put it back in, it takes a few hours to adjust to the regular reading, but it is accurate within 1%. THe other one reads the same, but takes a few minutes get back to the correct reading.

It sounds like they are hit or miss.

Re: $6.78 Walmart Digital Hygrometer

I picked up two yesterday and opened one to put in one of my humis and see how close it was to my analog hygrometer. This morning they read exactly the same. I do have to say that it did take quite awhile to adjust but with monitoring should be pretty effective. I opened the other one this morning and will see how accurate it is after I get home from work. I'll keep 'em if they maintain their performance but I kept the receipt and packaging just in case.

Re: $6.78 Walmart Digital Hygrometer

I have one and tested it with one of my little havana hygrometers that I know to be dead on it was 10% off so I just know when I check that humi that it is 10% low so when it reads 55% I know its just where I want it.... my

Re: $6.78 Walmart Digital Hygrometer

Seems like the 10% off is pretty typical of these. Anyone brave enough to see if they can be calibrated from the inside? RJT

Re: $6.78 Walmart Digital Hygrometer

have had my cooler up and running for the past day and a half and my rad shack which tested at 72 is reading 67% in the cooler which equals 70% and the wally world is reading 71% which makes it pretty damn close.

Yup, about 10% (low) off on the one i bought also. It has been holding steady at 59% in my humi with 70% humi-beads and checked with another hygrometer.

Re: $6.78 Walmart Digital Hygrometer

Mine has dropped now too after getting all excited for awhile that it was accurate it was reading 61% and thats with a Dri Mistat Tube which is supposed to give you 70%. My rad shack said 67% which is 3% low. Im retesting the wally world again to finally get a final verification that its 10% off.
