$6.78 Walmart Digital Hygrometer

I will put this in the I cannot beleive it actually works catagory.

I saw these in the hardware section of Walmart last night. They are white, about the size of a pager with a clip on the back with a magnet. I will probably tear off the clip and attatch it with Velcro.

I out the batteries in them and looked at the readings. One was reading 68* and 35% humidity and the other was 62* and 38%. I look at the paperwork for calibration instructions, and there are none I am thinking to myself, I just wasted $14.

I tossed them into my humidor with the calibrated hygrometer. I open the top an hour later and they are reading 68* and 40% humidity. At least the temperature matched. I figured I would leave them in overnight, and when I check them this morning, 68* & 60% humidity, Matching perfectly with the calibrated hygrometer.

That was a pleasant suprise!!! They actually worked. And to think I would have bought one for $25 at Radioshack if the were in stock.

They had some wireless ones too, but I did not price them. I think I may chech that since I will not be openning my Coolerdor too often. THey are probably a little cheaper than anywhere else though. They had a larger rectangular regular hygrometer with a bigger display for $12. I will probably be at a Walmart again this weekend. If I am, I will check, and may pick one up.

You can love walmart or hate them, but they still offer some of the best prices on all kinds of things. I got my 27" RCA HDTV there last year for $298. They were also about $15 cheaper on the coolers I am looking at so I can set up my coolerdor this weekend.

I bought one of these a while back. out of the box it worked great. salt tested within2%. After a month every once in a while it would read 58% for 68%. I picked up a radio shack one and ran them side by side. The walmart one after 3 months wasn't staying constant, but the radio shack one is still dead on. I ended up throwing the walmart one out. maybe I just got a bad one, but just watch out

Im kind of pissed at radio shack. I went there, and i asked "hey you got any hygrometers?" and their like "...whats that". So after explaining to them what it was, he went in the back and came out later and told me they had NOTHING in stock. BS i say.

I will keep an eye on it. They $12 at walmart looked like the ones I saw at Radioshack. It may be more dependable.

I like the Walmart one better than the Radioshack because it is small. I wanted one for my small 12 count desk humidor and it will work in there.

I might have to take a look at one for the price. If it doesn't work I won't be out much. I would like to have a SMALL hygro so I have more room for smokes. Thanks for the find.

Ive had the RS ones be as high as 6 off. I took that one back for an exchange. The good thing about WallyWorld is their return policy is pretty liberal. I have mine I bought tonight in the salt test as I type. I will give the full review tomorrow with pics. RJT

well after dissing the wally world one the first time and buying the rs one I went and bought the wally world one to put in my cooler. Ive got it salted tested right now and in the morning hopefully it wont be to far off.
