Xikar Enigma Lighter Review

I apparently am hard on lighters. Something like the piezio igniter always breaks or because I live at altitude (5400 ft) they run poorly when I go up or into the higher elevations. Blazers, cheap ebay junk, and colibri junk. Not to mention losing a big torch to the TSA nice people who are trying to convince us that we are now safe because they pat me down about 20% of the time I fly, and they took my torch so I couldn't crawl into the baggage compartment during the flight and light my shoe on fire. Not to mention the other torch I have that sits out on the deck with a dead piezio. So after reading all the advice this site had to offer on lighters, and getting out bid on a Dupont, I ended up getting an Xikar Enigma new off FLEA BAY for $25.00 shipped. It is now a week old and I must say I am impressed. The dual flames are really nice and do a better job of lighting a large ring cigar than a single flame. It lights most every time on the first attempt and if I push slowly and let the gas come out before the igniter sparks, it lights every time. I did pull it out the other day and it wouldn't light, but upon fiddling and smelling I noticed it was out of fuel. Filled it up with no fiddling or purging and it is working just fine. I did have a momentary oh S*IT this one is dead in less than a week, when that happened but all is well. It has been a week, I have used it for a cigar each night, and played with it a lot. At high levels the flame is easy to blow out, but at the lower levels it stays lit and works perfectly.

So far so good. I will update if it works or doesn't.

Next one to review will be a Brunton Helios which I just got today. Brunton is headquarter just 25 miles a way and I like just about any thing they make. One stogie buddy has one and it has worked great for him for more than a year. We will see.

I'd review the Ronson, but what is there to say, $3-4.00, works every time, but a single flame. I

Still working with daily use. No problems of any sort other than it goes through gas pretty quickly. Just to test it further I light it numerous times each day, as if smoking multiple cigars.

A nice lighter with two big jets.

Hope it keeps working for you guys. I have not had any luck with the Big Name Brands. Ronson, the el cheapo, is the only one that have worked for me. I am presently using a Lotus which is a little finicky but has lasted longer that any of my Xikar or Colibri lighters. At least so far.

Re: Xikar Enigma Lighter Review

Great to hear! I live in Denver and used to live up by Breckenridge (9000 ft) and the best Xikar lighters I used at this altitude:

-Enigma
-Axia (my personal favorite)
-EX, EX Havana - not a jet but NEVER failed
-Flintfires

All our lighters (which carry a warranty that never ends) can be found here:
