I ended up buying the Boston Cutter and it has been my main go to. It is really sharp and has stayed that way. It was expensive but well worth it.

For v cuts I use my pocket knife. Two slices and pull the notch out. No muss no fuss and I always have my knife with me.

I've never used a bad v-cutter. They all cut pretty easy even the cheap ones.

Xikar imports one by Wolf. Made in Germany. Plastic body but we've never had complaint. Retails for $12-17. Almost any Xikar dealer should have it.
