I had the Space , would have been easier to just burn the $20.00 I paid for it . Now I see they sell for $6.00 , . Never again will I buy a lighter at a Flee Market !

I have those too... the space runs like a champ but the other doesn't at all... bought them at BH and I am sure they would have taken care of the bad one but I was too lazy and never did anything about it

Anybody ever get a little irritated that sometimes the triple flame is too wide for the cigar? I think I am beginning to like single flames more these days. Then again... my good old Zippo (no insert) is my favorite... I'm a Techno geek with most things but a retro dude with lighters sometimes

We have the VIP, over a year and kicking arse and two Royals(sux arse). The first Royal worked fine for a few months, now its a battle everytime I refill it, the second Royal I've fought everytime I use it.

Re: New Nibo Lighters

I agree some of the Nibo lighters are great buys. I have a different insite of this company. We use to import their products into the U.S. from 2001-2004
Something you must understand about this product before you buy them. Nibo had a huge recall from CPSC, yet continued selling lighters that were unsafe to use. It's all a money game to them. Most of the models are perfectly legal to sell in the U.S. however if you look up on any search engine for Nibo lighter recalls you will find they have had several models that are considered unsafe to use.
JUST BE CAREFUL USING NIBO LIGHTERS.

I only see recalls on the CPSC web site for Nibo Space 5 and Space 19 lighters because they were not child resistant. That is not the same thing as being unsafe to use. Do you have specific information regarding safety of specific lighters? I don't see a child resistant issue being related to safety for adults to use.

Hey Floyd, you having problems with the Royal sputtering? The probem is that the butane they fill it with at the factory is at a higher pressure level than the canned butane. I can tell you a quick fix to get it working again if this is the case. If you don't want to do this fix I can try fixing it for you.

Near the fill valve is a small philips screw, take that off and the side covering will slide down and off. Around the fill valve is a small rubber O-Ring; remove that. Below the O-Ring is a little metal circle with a tab. Use a flathead scredriver or knife blade to pry it up to the top of the fill valve and off. Turn the fill valve past the old high stop point by 1/2 a turn and try to light it again. If it is still sputtering give it another 1/2 turn. Replace the metal ring, O-Ring, cover, and screw. I had to do this to my Space 6 as well...

Re: New Nibo Lighters

I bought two of the VIP's from BH when they were on sale for $8.95. One has worked fine so far, but the other is on it's way back to NIBO; can't back the screw out that covers the refill hole. I guess I'll find out how well they stand behind their product. I did find on the accompanying paperwork that they state this product has a life expectancy of a year under "normal use."

Re: New Nibo Lighters

I have had the Royal 42 for about a month and started 5 or 6 cigars with it. I have filled it up once. So far I have had no problems. But even if I do it was pretty cheap. The cutter is a bit shit, but can be very handy if you have nothing else.

Only complaint is is sucks up fluid quickly - however I could turn the flame down some to solve that I am sure.

Does the VIP have the famus "ping" also? RJT
