Rccomendation for a punch cutter

Does anyone have a special brand of punch or are they all basically the same. I have run into a couple of cigars, padron X000 being one of them, that the cap just isn't big enough or is of center and when I use my regular cutter it causes the cigar to unravel a bit. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I bought a $3 punch from my local almost 3yrs ago and use it frequently with no problems.

Ive got a el-cheapo but punches a small hole. I went out and got a XiKar and really like it. Much larger hole for a much larger draw.

Xikar has a nice looking one but I've never used it. I have the basic $1-2 one I got for free with an order.

I use the Xikar Wolf-brand cigar punch. It bores a hole larger than most others. Good hole size if you're a Robusto smoker.

Re: Rccomendation for a punch cutter

I've used the rubber/plastic Vector, the Xikar, and the all-stell Vector. The all-steel Vector is my go-to. The punch head is spring loaded, and pops out the punched cap easily. I didn't care for the twist-Xikar. The thing kept opening a little bit in my pocket and continually cut the tip of my finger when going for my keys. If you are going to buy one for your keychain, get a one piece unit like the steel Vector or Xikar. I lost the cap on a couple of two-piece units. Now I keep those at home in my ashtray so I don't have to keep my keys handy.

I use the one that came built in with my lighter. Which is probably the only reason why I'm still using this POS Colibri lighter...

Don't spend more than $5 for a punch cutter. The el-cheapo $3-4 work great. That is what I use to punch cut my smokes.

Haven't seen how the one my buddy has cuts $25 better than mine so I don't see the point of an expensive one. Granted mine doesn't have any "bling" factor thoough .

Re: Rccomendation for a punch cutter

This is the one that I have and use.
http://www.pipesandcigars.com/wolfmagcut.html a plastic one with 2 sizes of cutters for $16 and for $30 you can get the same thing in metal.
http://www.pipesandcigars.com/womagcufme.html

Here is an example of what it can do with a larger RG, in this case a 52rg

I don't always punch but when I do this is the one I use.
