300 Count Humidor

Just finished wiping down and setting up a 300 count humidor I ordered off Ebay. No picture here, but they have pictures.

I took a chance, not expecting much. Cheap price included shipping.

Rosewood finish. It has large top section with tray and dividers. Two drawers with a divider each. Two large humidifiers, analog hygrometer.

Pro's:

Prompt service. Placed order on Tuesday, received the following Monday.
Arrived undamaged, well packed, no nicks or scratches.
Construction looks about average. Hinges work nice and smooth. Tom seems to fit nicely.

Cons:

Analog Hygrometer appears to mounted permanently in the lid.
Velcro to attach humidifiers. I hate Velcro. Paperwork said magnets.
One drawer has a loose knob. Needs a shot of super glue.
A little up down space in the drawers. Box was frozen when delivered. (thanks Minnesota). They may tighten up when it thaws out and absorbs some humidity. If not it might require a thin shim in the bottom.

Liked the idea of the drawers for easy access, not sure how well they will work humidity wise. Probably the place to keep my everyday smokes.

I'm satisfied with this purchase. Plan on using beads so calibrating hygrometer is not an issue. Average quality for a low cost Humidor. Under $70 including shipping.

The sides back and bottom seem to be a solid wood. I have a Thompson cherrywood 50 that appears to be the same wood. The tray and the drawers. bottom of the top section, and the lining on the lid appear the same as my Milano, smells the same, but I'm not an expert on wood. I will have to find a way to make the drawers seal better or take them out. I wouldn't recommend this for storing expensive cigars or a one an only humidor. I may seal the drawer fronts, and turn into a deep box to store my cheap bundles. probably will become a hobby project.

Not quite, I believe the ravello has two half width drawers on the bottom for cutters, etc. and all cigars are stored on top. This uses the two full width drawers on the bottom for cigars. ravello is probably better made.

Re: 300 Count Humidor

There is a reason I'm a newbie in the jungle. I just went back and read what I bought and it does not say Spanish, so I'm guessing I got a bit of a dud, I'll have to pick up some and add it to till I up grade. I didn't pay a bunch for it, thank goodness. Live and learn!

Re: 300 Count Humidor

Even though it's not 100% Spanish Cedar It may be a TERRIFIC box.

It wasn't so far back in time that NO Spanish cedar was used in a humidor.
Bear in mind that our coolidors and boxidors have no cedar and they are wonderful controllers of humidity for our stash o sticks.

If it's fairly tight...no worries...
I saw, in another post, that someone placed a small humidifier in each drawer to help with controlling rh.
Makes sense to me when you have drawers.

Best smoking with it
Tom

Re: 300 Count Humidor

i got the same one a few days ago and right about now i feel as if i made a mistake in buying it. for starters the two bottom drawers are somewhat loose so there goes the airtight aspect.i converted the two humis to gel and added a digital gauge plus added a humistick to each drawer that i made my self. i hate the fact that the two drawers below need to be checked on very frequently .in the long run i think that i am going to convert the unit into one solid humidor by using my dremmel in cutting a hole in the bottom of the top half and sealing the inside with ceder wood.i will post photos as soon as get the unit done
