I can't find it on ebay. The seller does not have anything for sale on there right now so i emailed him to see if he has anymore going up for sale soon. If you don't want to wait, call tinderbox and see if they have them. That is where I got mine.

Re: Review ---- Tampa Humidor Salerno 300ct

ok, so im an idiot.

I oicked up about 10 ounces of cigar mechanic beads (thats all my B&M had, and there aint shit about them online)

So i started misting the beads and they werent turning clear at all. so i poured in about 1.5 ounces of water int othe 10 ounce bowl and i stirred them for about 15 minutes and they were finally saturated. Not too wet, i rolled them all around on paper plates t oget off any extra moisture....

The only problem was, i did some more research and im seeing that people say to have the beads 70 percent wet, and 30 percent dry...

what should i do? is it a huge problem to have all the beads wet?

It should be ok since your humi still needs some humidity. They will help to add that, or take a blowdryer on low and dry them out. Or i was reading about putting them in the oven on low heat for a little time to dry them out also.

Re: Review ---- Tampa Humidor Salerno 300ct

I bought this box from Tampa about a year ago...I haven't checked the prices on it lately, but what a steal! The local Cigar Store had a similar model for $700. When I originally bought it and got it seasoned (I did the ole mircowave a dish of distilled water trick to speed up the process with a little steam on the inside after I wiped it down) it kept perfectly. My cigars were better than right out of the store if I left them in that box for 2 weeks. A year later I have run into a little humidty issue, but it might be my digi hygo...more to come as I resolve this.

Should be fine i would think. Just go to home depot and ask them there. They should have plenty to pick from so you dont have to deal with shipping. I will check with Sherwin Williams at work and see if they have any also.

Just a guess here: But where it is going and how much you will be using i would say no. Just around the hygro to seal it up i think would be fine. Hopefully others will join in and agree with me here.

But it got to 50% very quickly.... and it took like 8 hours to get from 50 to 53%... is this normal?

Heres how i seasoned it.

1. I wiped down the entire inside lightly with distilled water and a clean bath towl (it stained the towel, argg)

2. i filled the OEM black sponge humidifiers with a 40/60 (pg/H2o) filling and set them in the bottom outer bins like you see in the pics

3. I pit a shotglass on the bottom middle bin.

4. at 1am, i checked it and put a waterpack in the top.

5. at 6:30am in the morning this morning i added a shotglass of distilled water to the top tray as well....

an hour later i left for work and it was still at 53%

What could be wrong?
How I usually season a humi is to do daily wipedowns of the cedar until it holds for a 24hr. period at the level that I am looking for (I prefer the 70-72% range myself living in the desert and all).

I wouldn't recommend putting cigars into the Humidor until it is holding at the right RH. The reason being, Kiln Dried Cedar is very thirsty. If you put sticks in too early the cedar can and will dehydrate your sticks. I had this happen with my first humi about 15 years ago. Needless to say, it ended badly.

I recently bought a second humi (Bally IV) it took about 2 days until it held where I needed it at. Been fine ever since.

One poster recommended a damp sponge in the bottom. I recommend this as well, and in fact, is how I season a humi too.

Also, in the early days of seasoning a humidor should it reach above your desired RH level, no worries, just don't wipe it down again or perhaps remove your damp sponge until it gets back down, or below your desired RH level.

Again, patience is the most important factor in seasoning, put the gars in too high of an RH environment mold, put them in too early with too low an RH, torn wrappers, filler falling out like dust, wrappers splitting when you light them etc.

In closing with my (was a little long to just be 2Cents) very nice humidor. Good luck with the process! I think this one will provide good service for many moons for ya!
