I love my Zippo, didn't like lighting my cigars with it ( Rosonol ), I picked up an insert from Heartfelt and have been very pleased with it, nice solid flame for a sinle burner.Great lighter and you can still use your favorite Zippo

I just bought one from www.Famous-smoke.com , works great , the only problem is the flame adjuster , hard to move without a tool of some sort . This product makes me wonder why Zippo didn't come out with it .

If you must have a zippo, this is an option... Just don't have it in your back pocket when you sit down like I did because you'll here a snapping sound that kind of compromises its structural integrity.

I think the reason is that the Z-Plus isn't made in the USA. It might not go over well with the vets who made the Zippo among the most desirable and collectible pieces of true Americana.

Re: Review: Z-Plus Torch Lighter Insert

Another kick-ass review, Dr. Stogiefresh.

I love the character of my Zippo and the Z-Plus makes for a great marriage of technologies.

It took the 3rd refill of my Z-Plus to get it working right. Follow the bleeding instructions from The Lighter Guy. That got mine tweaked well and I'm probably getting a dozen stogies out of a refill, easy.

I noted in a different reply that the Zippo doesn't come with a Z-Plus option because the insert isn't made in the USA . That's Zippo's choice and I respect it.

Re: Review: Z-Plus Torch Lighter Insert

As usual, Doc, your review was thorough and insightful!!!

I've resisted the urge to buy a fancy-pants torch lighter, simply because I can't see paying that kind of money for a headache!

But the insert sounds like a deal! I have a couple of liquid-fueled Zippos that haven't gone with me in the field... The excruciating pain of a fluid leak through the pocket and resultant crotch-fire convinced me that matches were the more prudent choice.

But this one sounds like a winner! Unless, of course, it's prone to explosion!

Re: Review: Z-Plus Torch Lighter Insert

I have had mine for about 2 months now. I love it !! I had the same issues with it staying lit only for the first week or so. That problem seemed to resolve itself. Other seemed to enjoy it also. My neighbor got one and two or three people I work with have gotten them also. I think I paid $12 for mine at the local shop.

Re: Review: Z-Plus Torch Lighter Insert

Since my torch recently melted it's self, and I bought a Zippo pipe lighter, I might go for one of these. Hopefully i can find them somewhere locally though.

Re: Review: Z-Plus Torch Lighter Insert

OK Dr. Stogie Fresh, I’m taking you’re (and several others it appears) word for it! I just got a Z-Plus on Fryday (03-17-2006) and it won’t stay lit if I start it with a match!?!? I’ve followed all the ‘suggestions’ to get it to work, but no luck. I’m going back to the Cigar store I bought it from. They were very cool, and Lord knows I NEED a tobacconist… Wish me luck. I’ve always loved Zippos and have at least a dozen.

I’ll report back w/ my findings. Was it just a fluke, are my standards too high, or do all of you own stock in this outfit???

VinnDog.

ps If you've read this far, I send you my questionable Z-Plus for a 'ring-nod'. Wink-wink, nod-nod.

OK, OK, You all were right!! I went back to cigarznmore are not only did they replace my Z-Plus (and it works great), they gave me a cup of coffee, some humidifier solution, and a 'Habano Reserve' of some sort (I don't have it with me, and my memory... well, you know.) We chatted for a while and they (husband & wife) dialed me in TOTALLY!!! I got $20+ worth of stuff for 'returning' a $12.99 lighter...

I LOVE THIS STUFF!! Cigar people=Good people!!

Re: Review: Z-Plus Torch Lighter Insert

I have a Z-Plus in my lighter collection for about a year and its been as reliable as a Blazer PB-207 thus far.

I did my usual flame height adjuster mod on it though, I wasn't happy with the initial stop point on it. Just slide that white plastic triangle stopper off the dial, find an acceptable max flame height, then replace the stopper.

Matt, I just want to say what a simple and cool modification this is. I have modified my other lighters, but didn't have enough experience with the Z-Plus to have figured it out. I modified mine today using your technique. Bingo! How cool.

Nice work dude.
