Re: Palio Cutters--I'm sold

I gave away my XiKAR Xi. Have a Daviddoff that works great but it will not handle large ring cigars. Purchased a Palio a couple of years ago. It is by far my go to cutter. It has cut hundreds of cigars perfectly without any problems.

I did try a XiKAR Xi3 at a B&M and it worked great. Much better cut then the Xi. I do not know if it was just mine but the blades were a little loose and did not always make a clean cut.

The XiKAR has a larger opening then the Palio which I liked. The style selections of the Xi3 are also superior to the Palio. Some day I would like to pick up an Xi3 just to have around for those 60 ring gage beasts I smoke from time to time!

After all I've seen on this board about them, I finally picked one up in the last week. Really, really pleased with it. Nicest cutter I've ever used.

I've been using my Zino double for seven years and it works well. But you all have intrigued me with all this talk about the Palio cutter. I have never even seen one in my area. Don't even know where to get one. Maybe one day I will be able to try one. Enjoy.

The are all made of the same polymer. The Gold, Silver and Black are colored polymers while the Burl Wood and Carbon Fiber finished Palios are films applied over the polymer.

I hope this helps

I read in another post the Palios can be washed in the dishwasher without damaging or dulling it... is that true?

I have never seen them in my area (Chicago). I ordered mine from Heartfelt Industries. I've seen them at other sites but Heartfelt was one of the cheapest.

Re: Palio Cutters--I'm sold

Love my Palio. Got the Champagne colored one from Cigarmony.com a while back and it is freakin great. Even my godfather, who smokes quite a bit more than me, absolutely loved it at my wedding. Has great, smooth motion and the cut....OH THE CUT!!! Even cutting a dry cigar it is as clean and smooth as silk...

You seasoned Palio guys out there...any difference between the heavier metal ones and the lighter carbon fiber? My guy has a brown one and a carbon fiber one and I'll likely just take one of those...

Palio wins hands down as far as the better cut compared to the xikar.

As far as which palio, I would suggest getting the original black one over any of the newer ones. It isnt real carbon fiber anyways, just a finish. Also, they seem to break easier or not work as well as the original black one. By that I mean when you open it a little too hard the two pieces of the cutter separate. It is an easy fix to put back together, but can be annoying.

I do agree that the newer ones look pretty, and I contemplated the wood or carbon fiber one myself, but as far as function goes... original takes the cake IMHO.

I have used a number of other (cheaper) cutters and the difference is dramatic --I cannot overstate how well they cut.

Re: Palio Cutters--I'm sold

I always thought the Palio hype was just hype.

I used a Xikar XI and multi tool for years and recently traded an extra multi tool for a Palio.

The decision was easy, not even close. Palio blew it away, althought the Xikar probably feels better in my hand and looks a little cooler.
