Look what Mr Brown just dropped off.

Look what Mr Brown (UPS) Just delivered.

Front view

This is my new Big Ben Humidor. It is made by Red Star and hails from China. It seems to be well constructed and weighs in at 36 lbs. The outside dimensions are 21 1/2" H x 15" W x 12" D. The inside dimensions are 17 5/8" H x 13 3/4" W x 10 1/2" D. The 6 slatted drawers are cedar lined and measure 12 7/8" W x 9 1/4" D x 2 1/4" H. It is suppose to hold 300 cigars but we'll see. It is crafted from Bubinga cherry with a hand-polished (furniture quality) finish and is Spanish Cedar lined. The door has beveled glass and brass plated hinges, lock and hygrometer. The humidifiers seem to be a little small for it and are filled with floral oasis. I am going to replace them with 65% beads when they arrive from Heartfelt. I'm also going to mount a Caliber III digital Hygrometer to the front of one of the drawers. The seal seems to be pretty tight. But time will tell. Right now I have it seasoning and it won't go into service for about a week.

Prices on this thing are all over the place. I found the cheapest price from BJ's .com for $280.00 shipped. Oh, the slope gets steeper!

Re: Look what Mr Brown just dropped off.

Well, yesterday morning the RH was at 61% by late afternoon, it had climbed to 63% and was still there around 10:00 last night. Today when I grabbed my morning smoke it still at 63%. I just checked now and it has climbed 64%. It seems to be stabilizing quite nicely, which tells me it has a decent seal. The door mounted hygrometer seems to to be stuck at 59% so I mounted the Caliber III. Now I'll be able to get a more accurate reading without having to open it up. I just have a small bowl with Water Jewels in the bottom drawer. More later.

Thanks

This is my second drawered cabinet type. I also have a Thompson Lucky 7. I agree with you on the drawers being easier to sort your sticks. That's why I bought another one.

Re: Look what Mr Brown just dropped off.

Well it has been at a rock steady 64% the last two and a half days. The front dial still is stuck at 59% so it must be garbage. Won't need it anyway. My 65% beads are on their way. Hopefully today I will get them. I'm thinking I might load it up tomorrow. I will take pics and post them in the Take a Pic of your Humi thread.
