Cutter question(s)

Okay, see, I've got a couple cutters. Plastic cheapo-guillotine cutters, and one that was custom made(One of those punches) for me by my father-in-law. I intend on picking up a pair of cigar scissors, but for a guillotine, what does everyone recommend?

Re: Cutter question(s)

Search "Palio"

It will save about 300 of the same answers

Re: Cutter question(s)

If you have the $$$ go for palio and if you have less money but really want quality, go for Xicar and if you really have enough money to buy a really good cutter,,,go Bostoncigarcutters.com

Received a Palio for Christmas, and I 100% agree with the other responses here.

Re: Cutter question(s)

Davidoff FTW, Xicar for close second, I am a dealer for Davidoff, Boston Cigar Cutter, Palio, and Xicar.

Palio cutters are way overated. As a machinist (A hobby of mine is Millling) they ground a very impressive blade but their blade is circular, it puts uneeded pressure on the cigar in one spot and works to try and chop off the head of the cigar.

Xicar and the Expensive Davidoff Cutters use an angled blade that slices the head.

For centurys guillotines use an angle blade rather than a circular blade. It's more efficient and used through the centurys to lop off people's heads.

My customer reviews confirmed it as they prefered the Xicar over the Palio.

Re: Cutter question(s)

Of course, the old plastic Zino cutter is a solid choice. I would start with it since it gives you great control, unlike some of the snappy spring-action cutters. Just my

Re: Cutter question(s)

Just "upgraded" from the Wolf "cant-cut-too-much-off", which in fairness was very good, to the Xikar Xi2. The Xikar is amazing. 1st cut on it was absolutely perfect.

I've had cheapo plastic/metal guillotene ones in the past and they were all useless.

Re: Cutter question(s)

I've had cheap cutters, I've had Palios (old and new versions) and Xikars and hate them all.

I use a pocket knife that is attached to my keys.

Never ever had a problem cutting any cigar from torps to the chisel (keep blade sharp obviously).

The Palio and Xikar are the most well known/common cutters out there but I'll bet a Spyderco or Benchmade will kick their ass any day.
